Hair loss...does it ever come back?

Recommended Posts

@@Jengarcia055,

Everyone’s experience is different. The amount of hair you lose, and when you get it back, and whether it comes back the exact same, depends on your nutrition and your other habits and your genetics.

In general, yes! You will get your hair back. It may take a while, but it usually comes back. A few sleeve patients get it back a little thinner than it used to be.

The things you can do to help yourself are to take Biotin and the other Vitamins recommended by your surgeon, get your Protein and Fluid, and generally take care of yourself: sleep enough, exercise as you are allowed and can, etc.

Good luck!

This is one of my big concerns. Such vanity, I know but my hair is something I've always felt good about myself. It doesn't help that I've noticed just with age my hair is getting thinner. I just ordered the Nioxin system and started on my liquid Biotin. I'm hoping both will help with re-growth!

I know what you mean, i feel bad about how vain it sounds in the grand scheme of things. But just like you my hair was always something I always felt good about. I think I'm going also start taking Biotin it cant harm it (my hair) and maybe keep it as healthy as can be expected when i color it. ????

I am 9 weeks out and losing hair. I am so sad. I started my bariatric Vitamins weeks before surgery. I have had several other surgeries and have never lost hair. I stopped taking my hormones when I had surgery and started them again 2 weeks ago. That hasn't helped. I am surprised I am losing hair so early. I am getting 85-100 g of Protein daily. Biotin helps with growth. I don't think anything helps with loss except protein. It real really stress me out if it continues.

I wasted money on Biotin. Over a year my hair thinned where I had to wear a wig, and finally I have hair again. Thankful. I did everything right, and I credit my husband finding me a hair Vitamin which helped greatly.

Jen, I took Biotin for over a year, even before surgery. My husband found Puritan Prides Vitamins For hair and within a month I could tell a difference. I had to wear a wig for a year and summer in Florida it was awful.

Rking, the hair Vitamins helped turn it around. I took so many vitamins, and still even Thiamine shots now. I seemed to have worse problems than most people here.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
