Well emersion day was about 85% useless to me...i am about 2 months ahead of everyone that was there...they were telling us to do things i started months ago! However...since i am way ahead of everyone, i have all my appointments sooner...see the psych for the last time tomorrow...

Nutritionist see next week but gave me her clearence today since she saw i lost weight and we talked a bit...so see her again next week...and next friday (5th) see surgeon...after that i get my date take some labs and just wait...

PROBLEM im losing too much weight on my own eating and excercise that i acrualky nees to watch rhat i dont disqualify myself feom the surgery...which is harder now that its just routine!

As for the rest of the meeting some interesting things i did not know...so some of it was beneficial...happy its over and the path to keep going is there...im ready im pumped!

Well i got all me clearence, my pcp is putting a rush order for other labs and tests i need to get done so it does not delay my surgery...i MUST have an upper gi done before surgery no butts! Feb 5th i meet with my surgeon...and doing labs tomorrow...woo hoo

I feel kinda bad cause i just started doing all this on dec 24th and will have my surgery date very soon and many of you are no where near where i am...im lucky iguess...i never wanted to have the surgery but i guess me seeing my doctors on a regular basis certainly has helped.

ShortStuff, who is your surgeon? I'm scheduled on 3/1 with Julie Kim @ Tufts, I believe she is the chief of the program at Mt Auburn as well. Don't be discouraged because you are doing it at Mt Auburn, I had 2 of my babies via c- section there, in my opinion the staff was much more capable than at BI where I had my 1st. :)

Good Morning everyone! today is my endoscopy yay (NOT) I am sitting in my office admiring my Breakfast of Gatorade and chicken broth...oooo YUM....I hear it is a 5-10 minute procedure but that it takes longer to get me all settled in and recovery...so this should be fun! I had to stop all solid foods after midnight last night...and Clear liquids up until 3 hrs before my procedure which is at 2:15PM!! So I am going to be starving I tell ya!

My husband (joe) says want me to have anything for you when you get out? I said yeah a large pizza and cheese burger...of course not gonna happen but still!! So I am trying to keep myself busy today. Please anyone feel free to KIK my group "gastric sleeve"

Wish me luck!

Hi everyone... So wed i had my endoscopy... It did not go well...i went in got comfy and i remember looking at my watch..it was 2:41pm once they took me out back and gave me the medication. I woke up in recovery very sick..it was already 6pm and still having complications...and could not wake up, vomiting etc.. I had to be sent to urgent care...today is sunday feb 7th and still recovering...much better but still wish i did not feel crapy before work. They took a biopsy of my esophagus, stomach and lower intertine...come to find out i have h pylori...so as of Saturday night i started my rounds of medication.. 2 weeks of antibiotics...then in one month i have to take a breath test to see if i still have it but wont interfere with my surgery....so anyways on friday i met with my surgeon all good and will have my date any day now she said...i got my Vitamins and doctor says try to maintain my weight...im down to 175...woo hoo!!

so keep you all posted...im ready..and want this portion to be over....

Hi everyone i am down to 174 now...i was given my surgery date yesterday...its march 21. Im excited and not...but its now or never...

My endoscopy really screwed me up...i started to get Migraine clusters...so had to get trigger point injections...which are painful alone...when i met with the surgeon last week she said i could possibly suffer from Pseudotumor cerebri (SOO-doe-too-mur SER-uh-bry) now let me tell you that i have seen some great pain and migraine doctors in my area (boston) and NO ONE told me about this...this alone is enough for me to have my surgery..forget the weight!! My Migraines are more debilitating then that!! She said it may be enough to reverse it so here is to that!! Im all in for that relief alone...

Keep you posted as I get info.

Short stuff.....my mom is having her surgery on 3/21 too with Dr. Kim. I had my VSG last Aug at St. Elizabeth's. I went to immersion day with my mom in December. I really like the psych doc at Mt. Auburn, Dr. Greenberg. Mt. Auburn has a good program ????

Sorry to hear your endoscopy did not go well. Hopefully the rest of the process will go much smoother for you.

So far still doing good i have opted for liquid Vitamins i have been on antibiotics for H Pylori that OMG i hate pills so i knew there was no way the rest was gonna work...esp taking pills for the rest of my life...yeah liquid it is...still losing weight...goinf back to gym tonight since my endoscopy... That really screwed me up...i sit here at times and think...is this really happening?? Am i actually going through all this. Just weird.

Last night my husband and i went to a post op support group...i was unhappy...i have to go to 2 meeting before surgery...just flet like a waste of time...all i kept hearing was how hard it is for everyone but they all eating crap still!!! 1 lady says she eats out about 12 times a week...no wonder your not losing weight.. Just upsets me how no one took it serious...this is a MAAJOR serious surgery and most all see it as a short cut to getting thin!! So upset...i have stopped watching you tube videos and posts on here cause the forum is just as bad! Just cause u eat let does not make it ok to eat that burger, or pizza etc...

I may be insensitive but i call it the way i see it...for 3 yrs i have been eating healthy so this is all a breeze to me...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
