Salmon Recipes Please!

SMOKED! Smoked Salmon is the most amazing thing. It works really well for a snack, a lunch, but mostly I use it in scrambled eggs with some cheese. Nothing better. I am going to be smoking a big piece this weekend and will post the recipe and pics!

I would love to know how to smoke salmon without a smoker! Please do share!

While the results would differ slightly, you can smoke it on a grill or even in the oven. I have a smoker so its a little easier for me. I would suggest the grill if you don't have a smoker. You can turn on one or two burners and get the internal temp around 200-225, try to stay below 250. Then you need some wood chips and a wood chip box, like this one

You'll need about 2 hours for it to cook. I am using a recipe that you make a slurry out of pickling salt, brown sugar and crab boil seasoning and a little Water to mix it all up. You let it sit covered in that slurry sealed in plastic wrap, overnight, then wipe off the slurry and let it sit on your counter, with a fan on it for an hour to 2 hours, till it is sticky to the touch. Then you can smoke it. Its tedious, and there are a few places I have bought some that is outstanding. Its expensive because of how much time goes into it, but it is so worth it.

Marinated in light Ranch dressing and broil. Simple, but tasty.

My favorite way to make smoked salmon - buying it at barney greengrass!

I cannot say enough about how much I loved blackened fish! If your tummy can handle a little spice then blackening seasoning will be your best friend once you try it! You can buy pre mixed blackening seasonings (Paul Prudomme redfish magic is the best) The method is easy! In a saute pan, add a tiny bit of olive oil, just enough to lubricate the pan (don't use cooking spray, it doesnt end well if you do lol) and heat it up. Coat one or two sides of the fish depending on your spice preference. Once the pan is hot, carefully lay the fish in the pan and cook it on the one side for a few min until it can easily be lifted from the pan and it has a nice sear. (tip, if you try to flip it and it still sticking, its not seared enough) cook on the other side for a few min. The goal with a fish like salmon, is to cook it medium rare. Many people make salmon too well done and it doesn't have a good flavor when overcooked. If you can find it fresh, swordfish and trout are both lighter in flavor like salmon and can be cooked the same ways as salmon and are just as tasty and good for you.

I made Salmon for a late family Thanksgiving dinner. It was not low carb but it was good.

I mixed brown sugar, mustard and a splash of low sodium soy sauce. I used a country Dijon or you can use a whole grain mustard. I put the sauce on the top and broiled the salmon skin side down. Broiling it caramelized the the sugar. Yummy. Do not overcook.

Thanks! I typically buy it smoked already but love all smoked meats so I've been wanting to learn how to do it myself

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
