Does anyone struggle from swollen legs?

Recommended Posts

I am starting my journey at 370lbs and I am 5ft3. I am 24 years old and I am about a month or two away from getting my surgery. I am really hoping that by getting this perhaps my legs will look normal. From my knee down is swollen and they barely fit in my pant legs. Does anyone else have this problem? The pic is my, my son, and my husband at six flags hoping next time we go maybe I will be able to get on a ride

My legs used to swell pre op. That was one of the first things to get better for me. My legs now are skinny pencils!! Wish my stomach would take notes from my legs and disappear.

Good luck to you. This is a wonderful life changing surgery.

Yes. I carry almost all of my extra weight below my waist and have lymph edema in my legs.

Although my legs are still large and misshapen, especially my left leg, they have changed tremendously.

Immediately post-op I lost weight very rapidly. A lot of that was from the Fluid in my legs according to my PA.

I may never have normal shaped legs but who knows. I have seen so many physical changes since surgery I am starting to believe anything is possible.

My ankles were always swollen. Weight loss did nothing to help. Turns out it is mainly from poor venous return in my legs. I'm just now getting treatment for my varicose veins. With both of my faulty, leaky medial saphenous veins ablated, the vascular doc says my ankle edema should greatly improve. I'll know in the next month or so.....

My ankles were typically swollen before surgery. I'm now 7 weeks out and they went waaaaay down. I can see muscles and bones and everything! They went down about 3 weeks post surgery.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
