When did you guys start drinking regular coffee again?

Recommended Posts

I was told the same as jj7481. My nut said its the dehydration issue.

Also she said coffee can spur on old habits meaning if you are like me, if I have a coffee I normally will want to eat something with it (coffee and chocolate is my ultimate food combo).

My nut said I should stop at 2 cups of normal coffee a day.

There is such a variety of opinions on practically everything, depending on your surgeon. I have a friend that left the hospital on pureed foods, my surgeon "two weeks liquid before pureed". As with anything, I'd say try it and see, everything slowly and in moderation is what I'm trying for.

My doc, who is very conservative, said I could have coffee all along, as long as I'm getting my Water intake and no Creamer and sugar.

I drink regular coffe. A cup a day. I'm 7 months post op. I use fat free creamer and less than half a sweetener.

Same here! With no problems. I started about 2 months post op

I stopped for a long time. coffee drinks were one of the main ways I ate my calories and sugar pre surgery. Huge white chocolate mochas daily. It was great to kick that habit.

I now drink about 1/2 cup of coffee with cream and Splenda in the morning and the occasional iced Americano with Splenda.

I'll never go back to my old ways. I'm over 1 year out.

Looks like I have to stop now if I have gerd. :(

Yes, that's what I was told at the very first interview I had with my WLS clinic. They go over the no caffeine/tobacco/no alcohol issue at every appt and each nut-class. I've had several people tell me they drink coffee anyway, some use half caf.

My program didn't restrict coffee but I didn't start drinking until about 6 months post. I did however drink a coffee Protein Drink made by a company called Chike. It's awesome. 20 gm of Protein 2.5 gm of sugar, 130 calls. It has real espresso. I am 2 1/2 yrs post RNY and still have a shake every morning. The company has other flavors as well and you can buy on Amazon.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
