Christmas Party what to eat?

Recommended Posts

So next wednesday we are having a Christmas party at work. I have been going back and forth in my mind trying to decide if I should eat the food that will be provided or bring my own. I am worried that the food provided may not be appropriate and if it was I won't be able to eat much of it and my co-workers may wonder why. If I bring my own I of course will be able to eat it and be comfortable but then won't be enjoying the festivities as others will. The dinner actually is the main focus as it is a Christmas dinner provided by my workplace. What would you do? I am torn!!

It is great to plan ahead, but I wouldn't agonize over it.

How far out after surgery are you? Is it a catered party? Is it potluck? Will it be a sit-down meal or heavy h'ourderve's (it figures autocorrect has nothing when I really need help with spelling on the fly).

Talk to whoever is planning the party and see what is on the menu. It may not be too late to put in a special request if there isn't anything you can have. If it's a potluck, take something you know you can eat.

Focus on eating Protein (turkey, cheese, etc.) are fairly common during the holidays.

In a pinch, take a Protein Bar or other snack that you can have in your purse just in case. Eat ahead of time, too if you are unsure. That way you won't be starving when you get there.

Most of all, have fun and enjoy yourself.

I was going to say last week for Thanksgivinf potluck I focused on the Protein and I brought something I knew I could east, a big fat Greek type salad. I got lots of veggies because everyone had a carb fest. I had a piece of turkey, salad and a little bit of veggies. No questions were asked and I just kept moving my fork taking the tiniest bites I could until full and engaged in talking. No one would have known otherwise.

Oh great ideas! I think I will ask what type of food will be served it is being catered. I am sure they will have a Protein I can have.

I had the same problem during our dinner with friends in Thanksgiving. I took my Water with me. The people around me were so focus on eating their own food and talk that they didn't realize I ate only 4 grapes and tiny peace of turkey. I sat down at the table and I just talked with others and nobody asked me anything.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
