Finding mental/emotional balance...

Recommended Posts

I just crossed the 2-month post-op mark and while I concede it might just be the honeymoon phase talking, I feel like I'm finally finding some emotional and mental stability. The past few years I've been a mess at times: Moody, socially anxious, angry... but I've (and family) noticed lately that I'm in a better mood with more patience. Just curious if others have experienced similar changes and if you found them to be temporary or permanent?

I'm at 2.5 months post op and feeling the same way. I feel some sort of release as if food had a hold on me. Quite interesting, I am taking it all in and learning as I go!

I'm about 3.5 months post op and I feel the same way. I think it's because I see light at the end of this difficult road. It's been a long time since I felt hope for my future, and now that I'm regaining my health and my life, I can once again see all the wonderful possibilities that await me.

I'm definitely more relaxed, and don;t stress out as much as I did before. I also feel like my depression has lifted a bit. It could be what someone said above me - I see a light at the end of the tunnel. :)

I feel very much the same way. I am more relaxed, happy and feel proud. Like I did very important thing for myself.

Moreover finally I found a consistency in my life. I feel like being in harmony with myself. I have always been a minimalist. Always supported this way of living. Overeating was the only field I failed. Eating too much, junky, not nourishing food made me feel like a hypocrite. And finally I retrieved a composure. And feel really happy about that.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
