Insurance Doesn't Cover Bariatric Surgery

My Insurance Company does not cover Bariatric Surgery. My PCP sent them a letter of Medical Necessity, as well as my Suergeon's Bariatric Coordinator reaching out to them. I need some tips on getting them to listen, or any other Insurance Companies, that cover Bariatric Surgery.

Is your insurance through a state health insurance exchange? I know there are several states that deem this type of surgery as not being a medical necessity. I'm also aware that Humana does offer the surgery.

You do have the right to file a grievance or appeal. You can do this straight to the particular state's department of insurance.

I don't know if this information will help or not but it's worth a shot.
