I had it a days after surgery, still in hospital. But I think it was because I was so far behind on my Fluid intake. Once I increased it, I hadn't had it anymore since.

You need to make sure you are drinking the required amount. You do not want to continue to dry heave, since this can be damaging to your esophagus and your sleeve. Did you doctor give you any anti-nausea medication? I had a patch from before my surgery to prevent me from getting sick and dry heaving. I would notify my doctor and ask for some to stop that.

They gave me anti nausea meds in the hospital. Didn't send me home with anything. I just had another wave but I was able to breathe thru it.

Did you call surgeon? Maybe they can call you in a script to help you get thru this hump

I haven't called but will most likely call tomorrow. I don't want to eat anything. I am because I know I have to but would rather not.

I'm in the same boat right now. My thing is I'm afraid to drink enough because then when I get nauseated I'm afraid to throw up liquids.

I talked to the surgeon today. He is ordering me Zofran. I am drinking enough Water...

He said some people just get hit harder with nausea. Hang in there and call the Dr if you need something for it. My surgery was monday, and 5 days later I am so sick to my stomach I had to call.

I also had my sleeve on the 16th. Have had no nausea or dry heaved since I have increased my walking and activity. Wednesday afternoon I felt like a new person and can finally handle more fluids and protein shake. My doc sent me home with zofran but only took it twice. Keep moving but watch for dehydration. ????

That's what I was going to suggest was the Zofran. They gave it to me at hospital and a script for home too. It really helps, and believe me I've had to use it quite a few times early on, but none the last few days.

I was on a mission to never throw up and made it till about 4 weeks. Also the first thing I did upon waking each day was to take zofran for the first 30 days. I was discharged on both zofran and phenergan, which they had been giving me via IV in the hospital. I also got the scopolamine patch before surgery. One last thing...narcotics make most people VERY nauseous. This is why I did not take one single dose of narcotics from the moment I woke up from surgery. So please consider weaning to liquid Tylenol if you are still on the narcotic pain meds. That will definitely help.

Thanks. Right after I posted this the dry heaving stopped. I haven't taken pain pills nor did I ever start the Zofran he called in for me. Funny how that all worked out! ! Now if I can get this diarrhea under control I'd feel fantastic.

It's unconscionable to me that they would discharge anyone without nausea meds. The zofran also comes in a dissolve able format so that tab dissolved in one medicine cup of vitamin water zero rise orange was the first thing down every morning. If you wake up throwing up try a phenergan at night before you go to bed.
