Can you FEEL your band?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone feel their band when it is inside them? I don't mean to physically touch it and feel it from the outside. But, do you feel it's presence within you? Or do you just feel like you always have?

Hi Jenny,

Thats a great question to be honest I've heard of people speaking about thier ports but I've nver really heard anyone mention if they could feel the presense of thier band. I've often wondered this myself since I am a very sensative person if I would be aware of my band beyond feeling full. Since I am not yet banded I have no answer but hopefully someone does.

Ihave become aware of my band now, but it is not weird or hurting. Sometimes when I cough I can feel it or if I gag or PB. Nothing major and I certainly don't think about it 24/7. I think it is good that I can feel it. It reminds me sometimes "Hey don't eat that" :)

Of course the freaking port as I get smaller is another thing....I am so sick of it.... blah....in the way now when I want to sleep. :notagree

I feel completely normal. The only time I know my band is there is when I eat and get good restriction. Other than that, you can't actually feel it.

I've only been banded 6 days but I think I can feel my band, especially when I slouch. It may just be the fact that my stomach is still swollen but I do feel something inside me. I definitly feel my port, not so much when I'm up and active but when I'm trying to sleep on my left side!

Hi out there!

Yes I do feel my band. I think its typically after I've eaten, if I take a deep breath I can feel... I guess the restriction which is the band. It doesnt hurt or anything. But yes I do feel it sometimes. The port is another story. I have had pain in that sucker since installation... hahahah sounds like contruction...LOL

Mostly when laying down or bending over I really feel that darn port, and forget about the underwire bra's. I've given up on them, they all seem to put pressure on the area thats closed to the port and hurts way to much.:kiss2:

I feel nothing related to the band itself other than the full feeling. I do feel just the port.

I've been trying to feel it through the skin but can't really. Hmm. I wonder if when I lose weight it will become more err.. (visible isnt the right word) touchable?

Nope, can't feel the band itself, just an occasional feeling of a marble stuck really low in my throat.

Not bad at all, really.

I cannot feel the band, however, I feel what the band is doing if I happen to swallow too quickly or don't chew well enough. The port is located, of course, above the band on the left side of my mid abdomen. If I press deeply enough, I can feel the port. Fortunately it is seated deep enough under the fascia, that I cannot feel it if I lie on my left side. I felt it initially after surgery, it was sore and uncomfortable, but within 3 weeks or so, I had no further discomfort. It is very individual for everyone. I had my first fill yesterday - it was a piece of cake (no pun intended), barely a little pin prick. I love my band! I have not had many issues with my band at all. Good luck with your decision.

I don't think the band ever will be, but the port does stick out as you loose!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
