Post-op 11-days and Water tastes really gross to me--ice cold and room temp. Does this ever go away? I REALLY liked water pre-op and would like to have plain water as an option in the future.

You may be drinking a little bit too fast. Right out of recovery, we were only supposed to have 1 oz every 15 minutes, and I feel that most people progress too rapidly (by the time I was home I was able to finish an entire Poland Spring in a half an hour. I definitely got nauseated when I drank to my max capacity, so sipping more slowly may help. Also, if you are still on Clear Liquids, be sure you are keeping up with your protein...it helps healing and provides nutrients in you stomach that fight against the "empty nausea."

I'm 7 1/2 months out - i found it got better gradually - now I can enjoy Water again, but not too cold. Ice Water still doesn't sit well.

Thank you, I'm on full liquids and getting 3 Protein Shakes in. I try to sip slowly, but perhaps I push it too much. Water doesn't make me nauseous, however. It just tastes really gross to me now. I'd like to like water again, lol!

The taste got better? Or your ability to drink it without getting nauseous? Thanks ????

The taste got better, but the sensation of the ice Water hitting my stomach makes me nauseous for some reason.

Wow, never is a loooong time.

My team allowed fruit & encouraged low sugar fruits when I reached 3 months. Honestly, I barely was able to eat any fruit ( even though I craved it) at three months-belly was just still too swollen.

I have a small honey crisp apple several days a week & I had half a banana and babybel cheese today. I do eat bananas maybe one day a week.

I used to love Water. Now, here I am, 2 1/2 years out and still can't drink it plain very often. When I do, it has to be ice cold but it usually makes me feel nauseated. If I add lemon or flavor drops, I am more able to tolerate it, but plain? Not so much.

Ugh, ok. I'll have to wait and see I guess. At least it doesn't make me nauseous. I'm only a little bit out from surgery and I'm so sick of Gatorade and Water flavoring drops. I think it's all the fake sugar I don't like.

Odd Water is the only thing I can tolerate a month out. All food tastes horrible to me. I literally have to force Protein consumption. Gl I hope it gets better for you.

11 days post op, had my surgery in the middle east which is where the origin of this advice comes from. My surgeon recommended adding a drop or teaspoon (depending on how much I like the taste) of something called orange blossom Water or orange flower water to my glass of water. It's a natural 0 cal water substance extracted from the orange blossom. If you have ever had middle eastern Desserts and noted a flowery taste, its the orange blossom water. It is popularly used to soothe the stomach and gives the water a nice taste. A warning though, the flavour is pretty strong and I would advice trying a teeny tiny bit. It's not for everyone but it has helped me quite a bit.

I was never a big fan of plain H2O, I always added something like crystal light. After sleeve I LOVE spa water! I put frozen fruit in my water bottle and drink all day long. YUMMY

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
