What's for breakfast?!

Recommended Posts

Breakfast is the WORST for me. Running around trying to get the kids ready to go is too time consuming. I grab a Lite Greek Yogurt with fruit for breakfast. 12g of Protein, 90 Calories, 9 Carbs. A little high on the carbs but I eat a lot of protein the rest of the day so I don't get a lot more carbs unless they are from veggies.

My usual breakfast is 1/2 a packet of reduced-sugar maple & brown sugar oatmeal made with Fairlife skim milk, with a 1/2 scoop of vanilla Syntrax Nectar Protein Powder stirred in. That gives me 17.8 grams of Protein in 137 calories, with some Fiber in there, too. It really fills me up, but when I get to the point that it's not anymore, I plan to add a piece of turkey bacon or sausage as well.

My commute is about 25-30 minutes, so then I have a cup of coffee when I get to work, with about 1 oz. of a Premier or Pure Protein Shake stirred in instead of flavored Creamer.< /p>

On the weekends when I'm off, we'll sometimes go out to breakfast, and I usually get a western omelet and eat about half, and give any potatoes or toast that comes with it to my husband.

Oh, one more that I found last week at Vitamin Shoppe. http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/p28-foods-p28-high-protein-pancake-mix-white-chocolate-16-oz-powder/psb1001#.ViEiB-k6NUM

pancake Mix! the flavor is deceiving. It doesn't taste much like white chocolate, but it does taste good! And it's easy. And sometimes easy is better than hard.

I bought this yesterday to try. I've never had it. I'm hoping it's like malt o meal. It had less carbs than malt o meal and the Steele cut oats I was eating. I would only be able to do 1/2 a serving so it should be fine. I'm not against carbs I know we need them to function I just don't want to eat them in excess and I want the right carbs. I have some maple & vanilla extract to add in. This cute little elderly lady stopped me in the store and asked me if I was looking for "healthy options" because she noticed me reading all the labels. Then she proceeded to tell me some. The whole time I'm thinking "don't look in my cart, don't look in my cart" because my kids are NOT on the label trend so all the crap food was theirs. She went on and on and I was thinking lady if you only knew I was 110lbs fatter 10 months ago. I got this. But I didn't I just listened to her and when she walked away she said "make healthy choices honey" . Too cute!

Have you seen, or tried, the Torani sugar free Cinnamon and Brown Sugar Syrup? I love it on plain oatmeal (pre-op) and on cream of wheat. It actually made cream of wheat an edible source of food.

https://www.waldenfarms.com/products/syrup_pancake.html They make all kinds of stuff. Salad Dressing, BBQ Sauce, Syrup. Be careful though, they are not cheap, and some are not that good. I have the honey bbq sauce. It is edible. I am a meat head who loves to smoke meats. I have not tried this on the grill yet. Thanks for telling me about vita cost. looks like a good source for many different things.

Some people hate the new adjustments we have to make for eating. It can be challenging, but I find it to be a good creative outlet for me to play with. Finding new things, trying to mix this with that. I have always loved to cook. I have still been making dinners for my extended family, even after surgery. Its fun to show them what I can do with things they would normally never look at, let alone eat.

@@dlappjr Me too! I rather enjoy it. But breakfast is my down fall. I force myself to eat because I know I have to. My sleeve is pretty tight in the morning.

Have you guys had Power Crunch bars?? They are AMAZING!!

I have. My issue is the low Protein to calorie ratio. Over 200 calories for only 13 grams of Protein doesn't seem like much of a bargain to me. The Combat Crunch bars I've switched to have 20 grams of protein for the same amount of calories.

That's probably what makes them taste so good...ha!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
