Weight gain....

Recommended Posts

So I was sleeved in July 2014, and lost 70 pounds in 5 months!!! Then it stopped...it has been 10 months since I have lost anything. What's worse is I have gained 10 pounds! Now in July this year I saw my surgeon and we discussed my weight and he said to up my exercise and I have....work out at a gym now with a trainer 3-4 days a week....I am very careful as to what I eat. I guess my question is has this happened to anyone else?? My surgeon did tell me that if in 6 months there is still no change he would do the bypass revision...just scared to have another surgery...

What does "careful" eating mean? Are you eating too much, too little, etc? Has your Dr. ruled out other health conditions like thyroid?

The above questions are important, I realized at 6 months out I was eating TOO little and once I upped my intake, I started losing again. Are you being honest with yourself in what you're eat? How much you're working out? Are you gaining too much muscle, perhaps it isn't fat you are gaining?

Yes my thyroid has been checked and is fine. As to watching what I eat...I don't eat bread. And rarely ever eat rice or Pasta. I snack on fresh fruit and veggies and eat my Protein first at meals which normally fills me up. ( but I am lucky if it is even 4 oz). I know that muscle weighs more then fat. And my clothes are not getting tighter which is a good thing! Just freaking over the weight gain when I have not even met my goal!

Keep a food diary for the next 3-4 weeks and go over it with the nutritionist in your dr office. They should be able to tell you what you need to change!

Keep a food journal. Fresh fruit as a snack is good but can often have super high sugars. How many calories are you eating a day? How far from goal are you?

I never respond to posts like this one unless the OP provides complete calorie and macronutrient information about what they're eating for weeks at a time -- meals, Snacks, grazing, drinking, etc.

Nor do we have any information about the OP's starting weight and current weight. That would be useful, too.

Also -- what medications she's taking.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
