Recommended Posts

I have a tentative surgery date of Dec 16th. :) and I only found this site 5 minutes ago so I was surprised to find a post right away. I've got quite a bit of paperwork to get in order yet, but it should all be sorted.

What are your emotions like right now. I know the waiting is driving me crazy. I am ready, more than ready. I actually struggling with dieting and I don't know why. I'm not eating a ton of food and I have a few days where I'm solidly sticking to my diet. Then I want sushi. I haven't been given an official plan to follow just don't lose more than 20 if I do my bmi won't be high enough and gain nothing or my insurance won't approve. I havent gained but I'm not loosing either. I was hoping to lose 15 before surgery, but I have 46 days I can do it!!!

I've only received a 'tentative' surgery date as I recently had a baby and the surgeon hasn't signed off on the surgery yet, though I don't understand why I would have to delay it... I'm not breastfeeding, which was the initial concern.

Gotta do my psych eval Monday, then one more appt with my NUT next month, then submitted to my insurance! According to my surgeon's office, my insurance provider has a history of quick turn around, as far as approvals/denials - so provided everything continues to go as smoothly as it has thus far, my patient navigator tells me to expect mid- to late December! Yay! Happy New Year to me! And to all of you ????

I haven't started the liquid pre-op diet my surgeon requires, and my supervised diet required by my insurance has been more of my NUT assigning me homework...like cutting out carbs or eliminating soda from my diet, in preparation for the changes coming for me post op. So far, I've had pretty good results making these gradual changes. How about for you, cookies_queen?

im not on a restricted diet yet. I'm trying to cut carbs and stop drinking while I eat. I can't lose more than 20 lbs or my bmi won't be high enough. I'm looking forward to the pre op diet cause that will mean surgery is soon!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
