They seemed sane...Dating horror stories

@@roundisashape That is absolutely terrible. You think he intentionally set the whole thing up just to insult you? Who has time for that crap! wow, what a loser. I really have an issue with people who go out of their way to insult, "teach a lesson" or whatever to some complete stranger. Like, seriously - get a life dude.

I wasn't dating until I had lost the weight, but haven't found it easy to meet compatible people who I find attractive and we have something to talk about. I found it very helpful to just quit the whole dang thing for awhile and go back with a fresh perspective. One thing that will likely be easier when you get further down the weight loss road is that you will be talking to as many men as you want for that month, not just the one. This last go round I dated several for awhile before I settled on the one I wanted to see. Many would say I didn't wait long enough to even do that, but summer is coming and I don't want to spend my valuable time meeting a bunch of people. I kind of had the attitude that I am willing to give it a go, but at a certain point I am done (at least for now). Its worked out great in that I am seeing someone fun, amazing to talk to and that we are into each other and there is no more dating profiles - woo hoo!

Love reading the experiences, I feel for the bad ones and cheer for the happy outcomes. A friend helped me set up a Tinder profile a few weeks back and I promised myself that I would give it a fair shot. The first guy that I was supposed to meet with canceled around 3p in the afternoon the day we were supposed to go out. Claimed his 90yo mother has been in the hospital with pneumonia...blah blah blah. I was about to start a 2+ hour Zumba-thon, so It truly didn't faze me. Instead, that night I went out with gfs and had another Tinder guy meet me there. He was nice looking, had an awesome body (Iron worker) but the brains/attraction wasn't there. I'm the type that'll take the brainiac smart azz over the beautiful body builder any day.

So, tonight I have my first real date in about 4 years. He's from Tinder too. Italian, IT guy who loves vintage cars and has traveled the world. He's definitely a smart azz and the phone conversation we had the other night was great. Looks-wise...eh. He's only a bit taller than me and is loaded with tattoos...never dated a guy with tattoos. We shall see how it goes. I'm reall looking forward to get back on the horse (@@CowgirlJane, that's in the works too!)

I also have another date planned for tomorrow night for drinks. I'm totally treating this as a numbers game (@@OKCPirate, I paid attention)

@@FinallyFit50s - glad you are paying attention...I'm heading off for a weekend with HER. Oh this is so cool and worth all the dang work and numbers. When you finally find the one, it makes you really appreciate it.

First, this morning got a text from tonight date that he has a nasty cold and to "postpone" our date. It's a numbers game. I'm cool with it.

My last night date looked like he pic he sent me. Truly NOT my type, but my bestie commented that I don't really have a type. He is covered in tattoos, none on face neck or hands, but full back, arms and legs. Showed me the art work in pictures. HOLY COW...they are intense!

He treated me like a lady, helped me take off my coat, helped with my chair etc. We ate a really deliecious New Orleans southern-inspired meal while listening to a blues band (Breakfast and lunch from the leftovers). The conversation was easy and I was really comfortable. He paid for it all (was nice after the last "real" date begged me to go out and then pulled the split the bill at the end), walks me to my car and gave me a nice hug.

Then he asked me if there was an attraction, I told him the truth...I don't get giddy vibes on a fist date. (Nor do I kiss on the first date. Yep, weird old-fashioned.) He asked me to text him when I got home to make sure I was safe. I did and this morning we talked again. There is just something really intriguing about him. He's family oriented, well traveled and spoken, intelligent, witty, sarcastic and has a very warped sense of humor like I do. I also told him that the tattoos scare the bee jeeps out of me; since I have NEVER dated a guy with any tattoos, nevermind covered in them.

We are making plans to go out again Monday to the casino since I'm leaving for Tennesee Wednesday wee hours. He wanted to take me to 6 Flags, but it's not open during the week yet. I haven't been since my kids were teens...I'm up for new experiences!

Meanwhile, still have a couple guys that are trying to make plans with me. We shall see. I'm going with the flow. Dating is FUN, with the right attitude.

I had a horrible date on Wed. I have gone out with this guy before, and he drove 3 hours to see me each time. I wasn't really attracted to him, but I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Long story short, we went to lunch and I couldn't eat all my lunch and so I decided to tell him about my WLS.

We went back to my house and I used the rest room. He had moved my phone so I could see it, and left me a text. It said "your stomach surgery really grosses me out and I'm not feeling it anymore. I am driving home"

Yesterday it was 7 years ago that I was sleeved. I could have chosen not to tell him. This is the first time this has happened to me, and I know it's no great loss . Like I said, I wasn't even attracted to this guy, but he still made me feel like $ hit. I'm better now though, cause I know it's his loss.

Sorry you had to deal with this jerk! What can possibly be gross about it? It's not like he can see the after affects internally.

My new tactic is to only tell the ones I am not attracted to about the WLS as it invariably makes them vanish!

@@Oregondaisy that sucks. I am quite sure M would be ok with the WLS but I just don't feel the need to share it and nobody questions my modest meals.

I've never had anyone react like that and for me it was so casual like pass the ketchup. I was so shocked when I realized he was gone and read the text.

@@Oregondaisy That was just an excuse. Sorry it happened to you. I'm with @@CowgirlJane that I don't tell my dates, heck I hardly tell any other folks. Do let us know how it works with telling the guys you don't like. As a social scientist, I love to hear the stories.

This past week, I had a nice, friendly lunch date with a guy I met online. The conversation was typical first date stuff... family, education, interests etc. He seemed very normal. There was no real flirting, no groping, or any of the things that previous weirdos have done. I wasn't really sure he liked me. Afterwards, I get a text "Don't work too hard. You have a really cute lisp." I read it out loud at work. My co-workers said "Did you lisp when you talked to him? You don't have a lisp." It was so odd. I ignored the message. The next day his text was "Do you want to chat?" I responded that I was working. He then asked "Would you like to be FWB?" I stared at my phone, stunned. Then I answered with "The nicest response that I can come up with is "Not my kinda thing" Unreal.... I swear I am a weirdo magnet.

I'm still pre surgery, sad to say online dating and texting have ruined dating. Everyone is so fabulous and perfect behind the screen, too bad when they get out from behind the screen they aren't anything they have wrote in their profile.

I don't think that is true. Virtually everyone I met on Match and EHarmony were very true to who they described. The odds of finding the one you gel with is low. It's work and it requires an open mind.

I don't miss first dates, but 90% were nice and pleasant. The hardest part was telling someone "I don't think we clicked but it was nice meeting you"

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
