@@1041mom I too have my struggles. Some days I don't drink enough Water which causes my kidneys to hurt. I don't always get enough Protein which causes me to get hungry sooner than I'd like. I struggle with cravings from time to time and I've gotten food stuck. On a place side, I'm losing weight, not as fast as I'd like, but still losing. To help with my chocolate cravings, I've found sugar free candy that helps. I only have one piece and I make it last. Hope you have more good days than bad. You've come to the right place.

@@kvoneye .. Thanks for the response, I've spent the last 3 hours going through different forums and have to say I feel a little less discouraged than I did before.

I was asking myself what's wrong with me and obviously I'm doing something wrong. I'm constantly hungry and the scale hasn't moved as much as others and it hasn't moved at all in four days. I get crazy pain and bloating anytime I eat although I still feel hungry. My cravings never missed a beat and i struggle to just keep eating what's on my approved list..

Reading through a lot of people have felt this way. I just need to remember this is a journey..

I can work on upping my Protein and Water and stop worrying so much about calories..

@@1041mom My scale hasn't moved in nearly two weeks! I'm never hungry or thirsty...ever...which is actually a bit of a problem. I've had to set alarms on my phone reminding me to eat and drink or I just forget. You'd think that'd be a nice problem to have, but it's so very easy for us to get dehydrated now.

I have to tell myself daily that weight loss is not a linear thing and that I can't compare myself to others, so believe me you're in good company! Try putting the scale away and only weigh yourself weekly. It's keeping me sane! Get the Water, Protein and exercise in and the goods will come in time.

@@OneLostJourney Hey good to hear from you!! You had your surgery the day after I did! It sounds like your weight loss is going really well! I won't know until this Thurs. what I lost, I have been staying away from the scale since my 2 week appt. when they said I had lost 5 lbs since surgery. I'm the same way with the water! Glad you brought that up because I was wondering if I'm taking too big of drinks. I'm back to normal, no sips. But it seems to be the only way I get my Water in & it doesn't bother me to do so! I too am thirsty!!!! I guess we are lucky but good Quest. for my Dr. appt.

Yes I was done in Mexico and had such a great experience. I hear men lose faster in beginning but you are doing great! I focus on getting my Protein and Water in. Hard some days but I get it done.

Hi everyone, I went back to work yesterday and I am exhausted by noon. I am at work at 6:30am. I retaining Water not sure what that's about. Tomorrow is my weekly weighin but I don't think I have lost anything. Between my bowels and water retention. Going back to work has been good for my eating schedule at least now I can eat Breakfast.< /p>

I have puked twice since surgery, my fault both times. It is a learning experience. I have a harder time eating with my family because we are talking and I lose focus and eat to fast. Much easier for me to eat alone, sad but true.

Went to my nutritionist today for 4 week check up. As most of you know, I have been in a stall for 3 weeks and we talked about that. She reminded me how much I weighed when I saw her for the first time in July and told me that I am doing fine. She said that some people take longer to heal on the inside and that things eventually catch up. Then she told me to up my Protein to 75-80 grams per day even if I have to eat 6 times a day - every 2 - 3 hours (I'm doing well to get in 4x right now). She told me that my body probably needs more than 600 calories a day to kick start it and told me to get it up to at least 800 calories per day now with a goal of 1000.

I don't do well on whey Protein Shakes but I need to supplement with a Protein Shake every day, so trying a plant based one. It doesn't taste all that great - mixed it with almond milk, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Thankfully is only 6 oz for 18 grams of protein so think I will survive.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
