October List of Surgery's

I am so frustrated with this whole process. Trying not to be but I am. 5lbs is 4 weeks and again nothing this week. It is like a guessing game. If you are getting enough calories and Protein and exercise but not too much because we are already at a huge calorie deficit.

I did our menu for the week and I am doing all low carb cooking not that I am eating carbs like that anyway. I really hope I start to see a little more weight loss soon, today I just feel like crying....

Took the words right out of my mouth. I feel the same way. I feel like I'm failing! =(. Your not alone!

I know! It is crazy. I know I shouldn't be freaked out but I am. Just staying on course.

Thank you, it's hard not to get down about it. I'm staying away from the scales because it's so disheartening, but aside from that the few people who do knew I've had the surgery ask me like clock work " how much do you weight now, well just check, shouldn't you weight less" etc. Etc. It's like being between a rock and a hard place. I know it's just a moment in time, but man this moment sucks. Thank you for your very kind words though, they do help =).

Thank you!! I do weigh everyday but track only on Weds. It is still crazy to think weeks 3-7 almost nothing! It's like how can you eat so little and not lose weight lol!

@@395Ron The chicken sausage was something I found in my local Kroger's near the hot dogs. They also do turkey meatballs, apparently, and I tried their pineapple teriyaki.

@@60&goin4it I'm not as moody as I was, but girly issues continue to plague me. It's a good bit frustrating.

I'm not struggling to get through work nights anymore, but I still nap a bit on my nights off. Getting close to hitting my liquids goal, I can hit 62oz three out of five days. I get all my Vitamins in. Protein...I'm not so good with, still. On a really good day I can hit 40gms.

I've learned that if I try something new and it doesn't agree with me/makes me feel sick, I don't feel like eating anything else the rest of the day. Sooo...now I only try new things as the last meal of the day. That way, if I end up not feeling good I'm only out that one meal.

Finally had a chance to read through your more recent posts. To share: I had a 4 week stall but once it cracked (I didn't DO anything to crack it I just stuck to program), the weight started to come off again. I'm between 2-3 lbs a week, which is a great rate. It's not crazy noticeable so I'm not fielding questions like 'what have you done?' And I'm hoping it also means I won't lose my hair.

I eat almost all Protein. I have some carbs to keep fibre up and very few vegetables/no fruit yet. I find I can't get my protein in when I attempt a more balanced way of eating so I'm sticking with bran, dairy products and meat. I'm hoping I'll be more balanced eventually.

I'm not exercising at all but the plan is to bring it in the new year. My program so no working out for 3 months to allow for proper internal healing and no weight lifting for 6 months.

My only real struggle (other than feeling like I'm eating too much fat) is my mood. When there's stress or something happens that would usually send me to the fridge, I find myself lashing out a bit. Im trying to not be horrible but I can feel myself taking it out on my partner. I get irrationally upset when he eats things I can't eat. It's dumb. I don't know. I'm crying over movies and even a commercial once. He looks at me like he's a little afraid of me. Lol

Anyway, I read everyone's posts in here and I hope we keep the group going. Imagine a year from now?!? How we can be congratulating each other and celebrating our successes! We'll have seen each other through the year (and beyond!) and we can laugh and say, "remember when we were freaking out over stalls and crying and yelling at our partner?" Lol

@@Mogwaicat Your plan of trying new things later in the day is a good idea!! I have noticed that if I don't get my Protein for the day or Water, I feel it the next day every time. I'm tired & achy! Its so hard especially the water, I get busy & before I know it I'm behind on my amounts! Its so easy to forget!!!! I think I will tie my water bottle around my neck to remember!!

I had a horrible weekend. I are donuts and a couple bites of my bday cake without getting sick. I see the dr on Tues for a check up and I will finally see the NUT do the first time since surgery on Oct 15. I'm down 21 pounds and still have 80 to go. I'm going to Vegas in Feb and want to be down another 40. I know my Protein isn't where it needs to be and my fluids are hit and miss once in a while. What's everyone else been doing to hit their goals?

That should have said I ate

@@kvoneye You are doing great with your weight loss! I'm down 22 but with a week longer having surgery! Looks like we are loosing very similar! I'm just taking it day by day! I do well with my Protein, always rely on my Protein Shake if I haven't ate much. The Water is harder for me, I get busy & forget. Have to take benefiber every day to keep things moving. I'm staying completely away from all sugars, don't even want to start on that again. I walk when I can more days than not. Hope you meet your goal, if not I'm sure you will have loss as much as you have already & plus some!!! Best of luck to you, I'm right with ya!!

I got the go ahead to eat all foods. That includes bread, rice, and Pasta. She's pleases with the 21 pound loss and I don't go back until April. Saw the NUT for the first time since surgery in Oct. I don't go back to her for about 6 months. That's my update for now. How is everyone else doing?

I had my 6 week post-op appointment this past week. My surgeon is pleased with my progress. I can eat all foods now and can add weights to my exercising.

I am in another stall :( and hope this one doesn't last as long as the last one. I am feeling well, though and get in my Protein. Water and Vitamins as I am supposed to do. I forget sometimes that I am just 6 weeks out from surgery and overdo it. Our choir had their Christmas cantata this past Sunday and besides singing I played a few instruments - for two services. I hit the wall about half way through the second service and didn't think I would get through it - but I did. Went home and slept 4 hours!

Hope everyone else is getting along better. Seems like it gets easier as every week passes.

I had my 6 week appointment yesterday. My doctor was happy with my weight loss. She said to keep working on getting all of my Protein and Water. She is really happy with my results so far, 25 pounds. She thinks I be very successful. I have another appointment in 2 months. Good appointment.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
