Surgery on sept 29...currently on day two of preop diet doctor wants me on

Recommended Posts

Im on the diet trying to stick to it...have 8 more days to go... Other than feeling like being hit by a mac truck i think im doing ok. Now if only my mom would pay attention to the instruction sheet and stop tempting me with foods i should not have.. Lol

I got the shake mix the vanilla flavor and many different flavor extracts so that i can have variety of flavors... Which actually have saved me in morning with mint flavoring.. Also have almond, raspberry, anise, hazelnut, coconut, vanilla, orange, peppermint... Now the sheet says that extracts are allowed, but i did notice that all extracts have different levels of alcohol in them... Now this may be a dumb question should i ignore those levels?

I don't think the alcohol in two drops of extracts is a factor. Curious as to how you are mixing the shakes. The Bariatric Fusion label has conflicting directions. How many scoops are you using?

OK, that's what I was doing. I just noticed the serving size is 2 scoops, but the directions say 1 scoop. I know my NUT said 2 scoops. I started second guessing myself. After day 3, my hunger subsided quite a bit.

I'm also having surgery 9/29... But...I am not on liquids only! I'm on Phase 1 of the South beach supercharged diet. I wonder why our instructions are so different ..:/

I am on 4 shakes and 1/2 cup of non-starchy vegetables per day. Not sure why the surgeons have different pre-op preferences. I know mine is a liver reduction diet, and knowing it makes the surgery easier has helped to motivate me to stay on it.

I, too, have a surgery date of 9/29. I have been doing liquid on my own, not doctor ordered. I try 2 shakes a day and 1 small meal.

I know my diet is for liver reduction.. 4 shakes and two cups of low carb veggies.. My instructions are on one side of one sheet of paper with the notation in bold of saying if its not on this sheet its a no, not allowed... Makes it very easy to follow. Im now day three and im doing ok.

this morning i had green Beans and made a shake with a level tablespoon of unsweetened baking cocoa. which allowed me to have SOME chocolate. I also hopped on scale and it said 302lbs, my pain levels are still on the high side i hope that comes down to non existence after surgery sometime .

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
