Thanks for the tip about pumpkin Spice Protein powder. I just now ordered some from Amazon, and will try this recipe to hold me until the real stuff arrives.

Did you get the GNC Lean 25? I know that is on Amazon but they have literally everything there usually. This recipe looks amazing!

The brand I picked up was Core Fitness, which I have not tried before. It came yesterday afternoon, so I made one up. Very good...it won't go to waste. I also made up a blend of ricotta and Greek vanilla yogurt, canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) and some pumpkin spice and sweetener. I scooped it out into a muffin pan and froze it, then froze the single serving pumpkin cups for individual use as I need them. There was a bit left clinging to the blender so I added a cup of milk, and a scoop of the pumpkin spice Protein for a 40 gram Protein shake that will take me two sessions to drink.

@@dhrguru I love everything pumpkin! Here's one of my favorite recipes so far. I like to replace the milk with Premier Protein vanilla (ready to drink) shake which increases the Protein count to 9g per slice! I also like to pour it into my non-stick 12 count muffin tin. Then you can have 2 mini pies.

Crustless pumpkin Pie

1 15 oz can pumpkin (not pie filling)
1/2 cup Egg Beaters
1 1/2 cup skim milk
3/4 cup Splenda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbs pumpkin pie spice

Beat all together until smooth. Put in pie pan sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes, then at 375 degrees for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Note:
you can use egg whites instead of buying Egg Beaters

It is wonderful served cold and can be frozen in slices.
enjoy!

Good job sticking to your plan! I just bought pumpkin spice Protein. Maybe that could help?

Oooh! What brand makes that??? I want!

I got sugar free davinci pumpkin Syrup (like torani) and am using that to flavor stuff!

Okay that's pretty pricey but if it's good I'm gonna order it!

dhrguru,

First off, good job coming here to talk about it instead of giving in to cravings for pumpkin-flavored everythings!

Can you make a few new recipes or substitutions that will satisfy the pumpkin cravings? Instead of a pumpkin doughnut, you could mix canned pumpkin in oatmeal and add pumpkin pie spice (or cinnamon and nutmeg) and stevia. Or maybe you could do the same in cottage cheese. I think there are recipes for pumpkin cheesecake that you could make with fat-free cream cheese, sugar substitute, and egg whites to cut calories, fat, and sugar.

Just identify what’s making you feel sad or deprived, and try to come up with a substitute. And stay strong!

I was just going to post that pumpkin puree mixed with greek yogurt and allowed to set in the freezer makes a good snack, but I like the idea of using ricotta . May have to try that.

Also ... Sweet Leaf makes a pumpkin Spice liquid flavored Stevia which I use in decafe coffee for a warm delicious latte (with Premier vanilla Protein as my creamer). I also mix it the same way, but cold coffee, with ice in my Nutribullet and it tastes just like a Starbucks pumpkin spice frappuccino. Put a few drops in with vanilla boxed sugar free/fat free pudding made with Premier vanilla Protein Shake and voila, you have pumpkin spice pudding that packs 11 grams of protein in a 1/2 cup serving. They make so many delicious flavors. I have cinnamon, chocolate, mandarin orange, vanilla creme, rootbeer and my #1 favorite is English toffee which I use daily! Check them out if you want to sweeten things naturally :D

So I'm struggling a little today. It's the first cool day, fall settling in and the pumpkin flavored everything is hard to ignore.

I'm almost 5 months out and this is the second time I've felt like this, like I couldn't take part in "traditions of the season". (First time was when I went to the beach and walked the boardwalk- smelling all those yummy smells). I'm learning that this is where my 'emotional' eating came in, taking part in the nostalgia.

Day to day temptation is manageable, it's just every once in a while it seems to all catch up with me. I'm sticking to plan, but just felt the need to write it out as it's been on my mind all day. I'm doing laundry to keep busy, will hit the gym tonight. I am making chili for dinner though... Great Protein and still gives me a sense of seasonal satisfaction I'm longing for.

So I've faced my summer and fall demons... Wonder what winter and spring will be? Maybe I'll be too busy shopping for new clothes to care.

Thanks for listening!

I'm not a fan of pumpkin stuff but a recipe I've heard from others is that they make some sugar free cheesecake flavored pudding and mix it with some pumpkin pie filling and they have a low calorie no bake pumpkin cheesecake

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
