Looking for those who had sleeve in August 2015

Recommended Posts

Had surgery on the 26th..Im so happy to report that today 15 days after I can drink without having to sip, I can do 3 gulps medium size ones...lol...who thought I would be celebrating this type of a thing...yayay!!1

What exactly are you calling a gulp? Like a short chug, so gulp gulp gulp right in a row so it's all the Fluid at one time or it's swallow, sit a sec, swallow, sit a sec swallow? I'm afraid to chug, because i've been told not to, although I used to be able to chug 64oz at a time, now I'm afraid to try it at all, so I put more liquid in my mouth than I should and swallow some of it, sit a sec, swallow sit a sec, swallow. I work outside so I get really thirsty and that's the best i've come up with to satisfy my thirst.

That's me, I miss being able to drink that much now, especially when I'm so thirsty at work

I was sleeved August 5. Transitioned to "regular" foods yesterday. I'm a little nervous about introducing fruits and veggies, but really want to try (I miss them!) Especially salad! I'm going slow, reintroducing one "new" food at a time.

Okay, what follows is TMI, so skip it if you're squeamish!

Yesterday, I had my first bad digestive experience since the first week after surgery (I had a lot of nausea and Constipation for the first 6 days, then nausea and diarrhea for a few days after that. Since then, I have stabilized.) Anyway, yesterday I ate some peanuts, which I chewed really, really well. A couple of hours later I had urgent diarrhea. Thank goodness I was at home! So, no more nuts for a while. (I LOVE nuts, and for a vegetarian like me they've been a great source of Protein over the years. Waahhhh!)

I also have a weird pain right under my left ribs -- much higher up and several inches to the left of my biggest incision -- It feels like I'm bruised inside, and this didn't start until 3 weeks in. Anybody else have this?

I had my surgery August 24th and I had hoped to meet people to talk to also. If you know how to add me as a friend and we can all keep in touch. We might as well learn from one another.

@Ame- I also had my surgery on the 25th. I am doing well. I've lost 13# so far. I had a 6 day stall. The scale is slowly moving again!????. How about you? Where are you at in your diet phase? It seems like all the surgeons are so different. I can start soft food in 2 days. I've done great on my puréed diet- no nausea.

I had surgery on the 27th. Still on purees but Petunia (my sleeve) doesn't like them at all so I'm thinking on backing off for a bit. I AM SUPER THIRSTY but not dehydrated. I've always been a gulper also, and would drink at least a gallon of Water daily b4 petunia came along????

Hi all! I had my sleeve done on 8/11/15....beginning was a little rough for me. Got a little too dehydrated and was having some bad palpitations. Started feeling better once I was able to get 2L of fluids from ER. Also due to medication allergy, I didn't have anything good to control my pain. I am currently on soft foods...doing very well with foods. Just cannot handle any Protein drinks. Too thick and disgustingly sweet! I liked them pre-surgery very well!!

September 2014 I weighed in at 275lbs.....Day of surgery (8/11/15) I was 254 and (Today 9/15/15) I am 236. Right now I am noticing more of inches that are dissappearing than the pounds. My dr warned me to not get discouraged if I did not see any lbs dropping between my 2 week post-op and next appt (9/24) because I lost more than what he thought I would during the first two weeks. However, he said after the 6 week mark lbs should start dropping again. Even with the warning....I have still been discouraged.

I am new to this support group...just signed up tonight! I felt it was time to reach out to other people, besides my hubby or parents (who all have had the sleeve). Sometimes it helps to talk to strangers in the same boat!

August 25th for me. Down 23 pounds. Really no pain except if I eat too fast. On soft foods. My favorite recipe is Ricotta cheese bake (ricotta mixed with egg, seasonings and parm cheese and topped with marinara and baked)

No complaints so far.

Lol... Got my sleeve on 8/11 as well. In same boat you are with stall... Down about same amount fluxuating at around 19-22 lbs for past at least 2 1/2 weeks... It doesn't make sense how you could eat so little ~800-850 calories and work out/walk 5 days a week and not lose weight... We all have heard of the starvation mode body takes on but come on... Lol... You have to laugh.

Crazy thing is doing all of this time my clothes are falling off and inches are coming off quickly. All of this during past few weeks with no weight loss and sometimes a pound gain...

Funny thing is, if you check everyone that says what we say you will see in 5 months they are all down 40 to 60 lbs in 6 months... So I'm just waiting and being patient...

Day of: 266

Now: 245

You're definitely right. When we take in fewer calories our bodies pretty much freak out and say no way! Losing too fast is not good.

I'm pretty pleased with my lose. I'm down 38 pounds from my highest pre-surgery weight. Tomorrow I will be 6 weeks post-op.

????????

I was sleeved on August the 6 and with my one month pre op diet I was down 31 pounds for surgery. And as of today I am only down 15 pounds......... I eat 80 grams of Protein plus a day, and get my 64 oz of Water. Feeling good, just a little sad at how slow the scale is moving..

Yes, I was sleeved the 18th and still get tired easily. My dr said the healing is still in process internally and it will get better. This is a major adjustment for the body and he said it just takes time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
