August 20th for me. I'm doing fairly well now. I had a really rough start. Re-hospitalized after being home less than 24 hours and was in the hospital for 3 days to re-hydrate. Then 4 days later was in the ER for hydration again. Ever since day 9 it's been pretty good. I am on liquids for 4 weeks. 2 of clear and 2 of full. Currently on Full. I sometimes get a little nauseated in the mornings but it's not too bad and once I start drinking it goes away. Still have a bit of the foggy brain but that isn't really too bad either. I am down 26lbs as of today and am starting to get some energy back. I am at around 40 grams of Protein a day.

Hi all!

I was sleeved Tuesday, 8/18.

3 weeks in and feeling great. Still get a little lightheaded when I get up from sitting down, but I know I need to push myself a little more with getting liquids in.

I'm kind of a mess with food. I'm scared to transition to anything "soft" and I'm never hungry. I make sure I get my Protein shakes in, and I eat greek yogurt, watermelon, cottage cheese. I'm ready to start branching out but I don't know what I'm supposed to start with? I'll say, hm, maybe some hummus? But aren't Beans super hard to digest?

I have my one month appt next Wednesday so hopefully I get a little more clarity on the soft food part.

I think eating slowly is the key, especially when you're incorporating a "new" texture into your diet. I was definitely concerned too. I started with refried Beans with a touch of enchilada sauce (made the Beans softer) and some shredded cheese. I didn't have any problems with that. Small curd cottage cheese is also good. I took a rotisserie chicken and put it in the Nutra Bullet and added a little bit of mayo for taste. That was really good! There are lots of good ideas on here.

I had my surgery Aug 12. I started my journey in Feb. I lost 20 pounds prior to surgery & 20 more since (started at 345 and currently at 305). I feel like weight loss has been slow compared to others, but I'm certainly losing inches. I had to buy new clothes for work & those are already baggy. :) I hope to be closer to 250 by the New Year & my doctor believes it is very doable for me.

My sleeve was done Aug. 18 and I am 20 lbs down. I have been at a stall all of this week, but still hanging in there. I am on soft foods now - mushy Soups, cottage cheese, string cheese, canned tuna. I feel great and can see a difference already. It is hard to get in all the Protein for me.

All of my incisions have healed nicely, but I still have internal soreness around the larger incision when I bend down. Anyone else have this?

My doc said that tenderness is completely normal & should go away in another few weeks (sleeved Aug 12).

Thanks for the information. I was starting to think I might have pulled something by doing too much too fast.

August 20th here. I've lost 30 pounds since my pre-surgery diet and I've been stuck at the same weight for a week now. That scale is just not budging! Hopefully this plateau will break soon. I'm on "mush" until Thursday when I see my NUT and hopefully she will clear me for real food.

I was stunned to hear so many mentioning that they were on a pre-op diet. My dr and nutritionist never mentioned that to me at all.

I had mine 8/19, I started the liver diet 8/5, I lost 29 pounds in the two weeks before the surgery and I've lost another 31 since. 60 is a lot of weight in 5 weeks but when you have 250 to lose, it's a drop in the bucket.

I'm still on purred foods until I go in for my one month 9/23, my surgeon seems to be more cautious as others as our liver diet is super strict and others I've heard is just 1200 calories a day. Did everybody have to drink that Calcium magnesium nitrate stuff that makes you go #2?

I feel 100% but still have to be careful about drinking too fast as i used to be able to drink 32oz in 8.9 seconds, now that takes me 2 hours if not more.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
