This is the one I got:

http://www.americanmedical-id.com/product/womens-stainless-steel-expansion-band-73

They engrave three lines, so mine has my name, gastric sleeve, no NG.

A clasp opens to hold a piece of paper that you can put other ID and medical info on.

I have worn a medical ID Bracelet for about 2 years because I take a blood thinner & allergic to penicilian. I got my bracelet from Amazon. It is a silver expansion bracelet & I can add to it. They now have a link that says "sleeve" on it & I need to get it. I love this bracelet.

I have a RoadID Bracelet. It has 2 emergency contacts plus that I am a verticle sleeve and my surgeon's 800 number. I travel a lot for business and I fox chase with people that know my name but would not know my emergency contact information. I have a few band colors. I am planning on getting more.

I am not as good about wearing it every day.

I am thinking of getting one of the slim ones for everyday use with the VSG info and 1 emergency contact.

Is this something that has been recomended to you? I have never heard of getting a medical Bracelet for the Sleeve. What would be the reason behind this? I have never had any kind of medical emergency and i do not travel often, so I may just be out of the loop and this is something we all should be doing.

My surgeon recommended a medical Bracelet since with the sleeve you need to be careful with certain medical procedures. I think a stomach tube in particular. If they don't realize you had the sleeve they may accidently puncture your stomach as they expect the pouch there.

You can be in car accident or get hit by a car or anything that would relate to you bring unconscious and they may have to put a NG TUBE in you. This will rupture your sleeve and cause you serious damage. The medical Bracelet will let any healthcare facility know that you have the sleeve and not to do the NG TUBE

Accidents might result in a tracheal tube to help with your breathing, but that goes into the lungs, not the stomach. There is no reason an EMT is going to give you an emergency stomach tube to start feeding you on the roadside or in the ambulance.

A NG tube in the case of emergencies is to suction gastric contents. I put them in routinely, and seriously see no issues with putting it in on a sleeved patient. I will research it, and ask a few ER doctors their thoughts about it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
