I'm 53 -- I love reading posts from women and men in my boat that are successful!

Still four nutrition consults away from submitting my stuff to insurance for approval. I wish I could just have it done, already!!

Hi! I'm new here!! I'm 56 and I had rny on October 26, 2016. I've lost 90 pounds but all of a sudden I'm stalled! It's so frustrating! I go to the gym and work out. I usually do 2 miles on the elliptical or bike. Had a fall on the treadmill so now I'm afraid of that. Haha!! I don't know what else to do to get past my stall. Any ideas?

I am 52 and had gastric bypass conversation from band 4/2014. Had a slow weight loss but lost 115lb over 18 months. Had plastics for lower body lift, Tummy Tuck and vertical thigh lift 7/2017 which took off another 5 lb of extra skin. The conversation to bypass was the best decision followed closely by the plastics. Good luck to all just starting or in the midst of this journey.

So should I expect tons of loose skin since I'm over 50 -- does this correlate with age? Tummy tucks, etc, look painful!

If you lose a great deal of weight you will have extra saggy skin. Whether or not you are bothered by it is very individualized. I was but some are not.

Hi everyone! Can I join? I'm 55 years old going on 6 (as Jimmy Buffet says, "I'm growing older, but not up"). I've just been submitted for insurance approval and am hoping for a Nov. 28th surgery date--we'll see. Still have 1 more RD appt (next week for a total of 4), and another surgeon's consult the week after on the 9th. It's getting close. I will be RNY. (Oh I'm in North Houston.)

Same here. It's a small price to pay for better health. The skin can be dealt with eventually, and some people actually choose not to have any surgery to remove the excess skin. My goals are ... healthy, alive, vibrant.... then I'll worry about the skin later. :)

Hi All, I was 59 last August. My bypass was almost 4 weeks ago. Doing great. Down 35 lbs so far. Not a fan of puréed food, so sticking to mostly Protein Drinks and lots of fluids. Tomorrow going to have some yogurt or cottage cheese oh and totally loving soft scrambled egg with cheese! Best of luck !

I’m going to be 51 soon. [emoji22] I can’t wait to feel better and move like I want to. I have been diabetic for years and never have been under control. Can’t wait to be rid of it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
