First lesson in this...WALK!

Recommended Posts

Im not sure where to post this but to save someone else from what I just went through...

I work from home and was feeling fairily good today so I put in a 6 hour day. I was pretty proud that I was able to drink more and before I knew it, I was feeling sleepy so I got done and took a nap. My belly felt swollen but I figured that was the norm. I woke up about 2 hours later in EXTREME pain. I could barely move and was very swollen. Thats when I realized I had walked MAYBE once that day. So lesson learned...I now have my alarm set for every 30 mins to make sure I get up and walk. Im still only able to walk on my treadmill about 3 mins at a time and up and down our hallway but I learned to not wait. Im so mad at myself for going that long without getting up BUT thats the sedentary life I was used to. Sitting, eating, sleeping, sitting and eating 50 more times. As sore as I am, I am so glad to have that life behind me. I NEVER want to go back!

You have brought something very important to my attention. Even now, I sit too long at my desk job, it's hard to remember to get up and move when you are busy at work. I have been suffering from swollen feet, ankles and legs, only during the work week, I am fine when I am home on the weekends, because with 3 children and a house to take care of I rarely sit! I will be having surgery in October and may consider taking more than 1 week off, for that reason. Walking will be a very important part of healing and I am not sure I will be mindful of getting up and walking around every so often. Something to think about! Thank you!

Im so glad I could help someone :) Yes, anyone that has a desk job, even if you just get up to walk to the end of the hall and back. Or maybe even if you stood at your desk and walked in place for 1 min straight (more if you can) just dont be completely sedentary for more than 30 mins-1hr. Obviously at night itll be tough but Im going to set my alarm in the middle of the night and walk my hall. Itd be a good time to grab some Water too! Yay! Im so excited that you have a date. This has been the hardest and best decision of my life. Let me know if you have any questions! Im still a newb but a little farther in at least :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
