Marijuana Use After Surgery

lmao!!!!!!!!!!! a prison jump suit for smoking weed?????????? lmao!!!!!!!!! where r u from and with that being said u obviously have no idea about prison...talk about what u know...don't make a complete ass out of urself!!!!!!!!!

Keep telling yourself that.

A few states—including Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Texas—do, in fact, allow judges to impose a life sentence even for a first pot offense.

Many states have minimum sentences of 3 months to 1 year for simple possession. New York slaps you on the wrist for possession of less than 1 oz on the first two offenses. On the third offense you get 5 days and a fine. Give a friend one of your tokes and you'll get 3 months. Sell it to them and you'll get a year. Getting caught with drug paraphernalia containing traces of pot will get you a year. Other states have similar laws.

Bottom line...you are breaking the law and there is always a very real possibility of jail time. Only a fool would believe otherwise.

Everything we do carries a consequence. If you think that getting arrested, being fined and/or going to jail and having a record for drug possession is an acceptable consequence if you get caught, then I certainly can understand your reasoning. If you are still lucky enough to work in a job that doesn't require random drug screening, and termination of employment should you ever show up positive, then I can certainly understand your reasoning.

You state that Marijuana is illegal.. in What state are you in?

I don't know of any state where marijuana is legal for recreational use? Do you?

Have you done your studies on it?

Yes.

I really feel before anyone goes off saying that Marijuana is an "illegal drug or is a bad drug"

DO YOUR RESEARCH. ITS AN HERB NATURALLY GROWN

IT IS NOT CHEMICALLY BASED

There are many 'natural' plants that are toxic. Just because it's natural, it doesn't mean it's good for you. However, I'm not making the claim that marijuana is toxic. I'm merely stating that it is illegal.

marijuana was the ONLY THING that helped him eat. Because of "WEED" he survived THE CANCER for 5 years

And some states have legalized marijuana for medical purposes. What most are talking about here is the illegal recreational use.

ElfiePoo-I don't know of any state where marijuana is legal for recreational use? Do you?

Recreational use- NO..

BUT!! (AND ITS A BIG BUTT)

In CALIFORNIA try looking up MENDOCINO COUNTY AND HUMBOLDT = you can grow 10 plants on your property..we are NOTORIOUS FOR OUR GREEN BUD THERE.

ElfiePoo

EXACTLY!! THEY LEGALIZED IT BECAUSE DOCTORS AND SCIENTIST RECOGNIZE IT.

FUnny how also how our President OBAMA stopped the FEDS from going any further in "busting out cannabis clubs" the war on WEED isn't such a WAR anymore.

Also in Cali- they are TAXING it.. meaning.. we are soo close to having this LEGALIZED..pretty soon THIS WILL NO LONGER BE AN ISSUE..

Like I said... Welcome to the Future.. Open your minds.. there are WORSE THINGS out there than "Weed"..

Ellfiepoo If you don't mind I ask..

What kind of Studies HAVE YOU DONE ON IT?

Google look-up doesn't count.. J/k

I've had MANY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES with it.. MY BROTHER, FAMILY, FRIENDS,.. RECREATIONAL, OR MEDICINAL... i've done my studies.. My GOOD FRIEND is a graduate from "Marijuana School"

whats your back up?

Theres also a college out here for it.. called

OAKSTERDAM specifically for starting your own cannabis club, and growing.

Why do you think these schools are getting popular?

Why are there sooo many students going?

I don't mind at all. I am a psychiatrist and work as an adjunct with law enforcement at a maximum security prison. I have not *done* any studies, but have read the work of other experts who have done research.

There is no correlation between 'popularity' and safe use. Again, let me reiterate that I don't have a prejudice against marijuana. My belief is that we either make it legal...or make cigarettes and alcohol illegal. Let's at least be consistent.

In any case, it torques me that it is taking so long to get marijuana approved nationwide for medical purposes. The research is there to back up its efficacy for a number of medical problems...not the least being pain relief and without the addictive qualities of so many other pain relievers.

Last time I checked, the guards weren't bringing the marijuana in to the facility in their lungs or bladders and then exhaling or peeing on the prisoners. Therefore, it stands to reason that 'carrying' the marijuana in would not compromise their drug testing.

I'm beginning to think you're either operating under the influence (judgment impaired by marijuana) or I'm dealing with a youngster (judgment impaired by brain not being fully developed yet). In either case, I need to move on to more important matters.

I smoke marijuana probably more than anyone else on this board (to be honest every single day) and I'm doing GREAT on my journey. it's all about WILLPOWER! Weed doesn't make you gain or loose weight, YOU DO. Don't insult people because they smoke weed. I don't insult people on here because they smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol. That's their choice.

What does this have to do with the conversation at hand? Now I have to ask myself why someone who supposedly lost 139 lbs is resorting to bullying behavior and attacking someone else about their weight? You know what you just did is a defense mechanism for an insecure personality?

Goodbye Flyguys...life is too short to waste on nasty people.

I read an article that reported the results of a survey that asked 'would you rather lose a limb or be fat' and the answer was ' lose a limb'.

One of the fears I've had about losing this weight is that I will become a mean, self-righteous, vain person who will forget that beauty comes from within...not the digital readout on the bathroom scale.

If the choice is between being a nasty, self-righteous vain person and fat...I'll take fat because there are worse things than being fat.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
