I am only 4 days post op and feeling MISERABLE. I am having severe stomach spasms and keep getting terrifying belly aches. Also hurts to breathe. Please tell me this ends as you heal more.

Yes, it will get better. The pain with breathing is probably the gas they filled your abdomen with... to help this walk, walk walk. Also be sure to try and get as much fluids and Protein in as you can so you don't dehydrate and can get on with the healing process. You will make it through :)

I, unfortunately, have way too much experience with abdominal surgeries, this was my 4th in the last 18 months and 12th in the last 20 years, so I will give you the advice my surgeon would give me. Walk, walk, walk, and then, walk some more. I know it is painful, but that is the best thing you can do. It moves the gas around and helps wake the bowels up.

I took some mirulax to help jump start the BMs and take some every other day keep things moving.

But walking is the best thing you can do. After I got home I would walk 10 laps around the house every hour.

Good luck and I hope you get feeling better soon.

I'm really worried for you. I didn't experience anything like that at all. I do know that there is medication for stomach spasms though. :( I hope it gets better soon. Please get checked out. Doesn't sound right to me.

I am so sorry! I don't think I realized how wretched I would feel after surgery. For 14 days, I was so beyond sick and in pain it was ridiculous. Then it lifted and started getting better every day. Now all I feel is great. Two weeks of feeling like hell was nothing... I am so glad I did this! I hope you feel much better as soon as possible. This is just temporary!

I had my sleeve 8 days ago and I've been in such pain too. It hurts so much to get fluids in. I had IV fluids, and a cat scan yesterday. The cat scan show some "sludge" in there and my blood work revealed elevated pancreatic enzymes, which is fairly common after this kind of aggravating surgery. If you google Pancreatitis, you'll probably say "that's me!" I did. It has to run its course as your new anatomy heals, but they told me, Oxy every 4 hours and get 64 ozs in! With the pain meds, I can do it, and I swear all that Water has actually helped me heal! Talk to your Dr about possibly having pancreatitis and that you want your enzyme levels checked. Be a strong advocate for yourself-Drs think we're all going to be fine in 2 weeks, but why suffer through a constant torturous belly ache! It's horrible! There's probably nothing seriously wrong, but check it out!

Good luck!

It gets better. I am 9 days post op and I feel great. Off the pain and nausea meds. Honestly as soon as I stopped taking the pain meds my third day home, I started to feel progress! Good luck, hope you feel better!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
