How many days were you in the hospital?

Recommended Posts

@@ReaderGirl thank you for for the detailed experience. It helps to know that 1 day is not out of the question. I admire those that did out patient! That is incredible. I hope everyone healed well and have had no complications. It always makes me feel a little less scared when I read everyone's experiences. Even the not so great ones that I've come across still pulled through and have no doubt that they would do it again. Thanks for sharing everyone!

Yes the people that did this and went home the same day. They are strong! I do admire them! But please don't be afraid, I tend to get a little worked up before things like this and try to back out , change my mind you name it! Educate yourself!! From good sources! Ask questions!

I stayed 3 nights but could have stayed 4 or 5 if I wanted.

I can't imagine being a day patient, you are all so very strong!!

I stayed three nights because I asked to stay. It was very helpful for me to rest and have the nursing support. I was nauseous from pain meds and had mild reaction to zofran and toradol. However I never threw up because the meds where changed to ones that worked for me. My advice is to speak up. You HAVE to keep fluids down and they know that.

My surgery was a day surgery. I was out the same evening. I would have been out in the afternoon, but I tend to take an extended nap through the anesthesia every time I am put under for a surgery. Lol! Everything went perfectly and incredibly smooth.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
