Marchies in July

Janine

I get the Nestea unsweetened iced tea right out of the fountain, not squishie form.....once I hit the wrong button and got raspberry iced tea...sooo sweet and syrupie and thick, yuck.

Welcome back to all the Marchies we haven't spoke to in a while!

Head hunger stinks!

I had to chuckle Mon when the Dr. asked me if I was hungry and if that is why I only lost 4 lbs. uh, NO. One of the reason's I'm overweight is because I eat when I'm NOT hungry, like it was some new thing he'd never heard of. Anyway, I'm being sarcastic.

I have been giving into head hunger more than I'd like.

I just need to keep busy and fill up my time with non-food related things.

I'm reading your posts and thinking whooaa what's wrong here. I too was banded in March but NO wt loss so far. I've had 3 fills and supposedly at 4.33cc in a 5cc band. I'm quite concerned at this point because I thought I'd at least be down 10-15# by now. I try to be careful with food choices etc but thought the band was here to help me as dieting I wasn't very successful with. I'm not sure what to do now. I'm planning on getting a barium study next week but then what. I haven't had any physical complications at all. My fill doctor says I don't have any visceral fat. So what it's all on the outside, this isn't what I thought it would be so far. :think

Cowgirldreams--Do you have restriction. Maybe they should check to make sure you have 4.3 cc in your band. How much have you lost. I know there is a lot of people who lose really really slow. Have you been to you PCP to see if you thyroid is working?

We are here for you.

Cowgirldreams,

Are you writing down EVERYTHING you eat and drink? I know that's a royal pain the the butt, but its easy to eat more than you think you are. I haven't been and I'm staying the same. I just started back to writing and for right now, its keeping me from snacking.

Also, are you trying to stay away from high fat and high sugar content foods?

I realized last week that i was snacking too much even though it way on far more healthier items than I did before banding.

Keep trying and dont give up!

Hello Marchies,

I'm feeling sooooo guilty for not logging in here more... in my defence lol i'm back working fulltime. The family have all taken it well but haven't seen fit to help out much which is typical lol

About 6 weeks ago I started walking with a friend after work and we're now up to 1 hour per day 5 days a week. Tuesday this week I finally joined the local gym and apart from being sore in places I previously didn't know existed, I feel wonderful. I told the trainer that I'd had the lapbanding done and I was worried that even with walking I wouldn't tone the area's I really needed too, I don't want to lose all this weight and still be uncomfortable to be seen with particularily my arms uncovered because of flabby skin. She's done me up a program targeting my thighs, tummy and arms. I go every week day for an hour in the mornings. So now i've gone from 0 exercise to 2 hours a day. If someone had told me 3 months ago i'd be doing this i'd have laughed as even a short walk would hurt and i'd find the smallest excuse to not go. I'm really looking forward to working on a new body, one i'm hoping will see me through to OLD age lol

I hope everyone else is going well...

Cheers

Congrats on your exercise, Lisa! Wow! And congrats on your weight loss--you are doing great! I'm so jealous! Do you feel like your restriction is right or are you just dieting and doing an incredible job waiting for proper restriction? Good luck on your full-time job and keep up the great weight-loss journey.

Hi all! Just wanted to check in with you. Sorry I haven't read the previous posts. I am recovering from gallbladder sugery and the meds have me pretty loopy.

Last week starting on Sunday I starting feeling very sick. Couldn't eat anything and could barely keep down my Protein Shakes. I kept having this horrible pain right through my sternum to my back. I felt like someone was sticking a hot poker throgh me. I couldn't get comfortable in any positon. I was really constipated and figured all that back up was causing the pain so I took that milk of magnesia and drank some of that dieters tea it didn't take my pain away but then I had diareha and throwing up. At this point I was sure my band had slipped. Wednesday about 4 am I woke up my hubby in tears begging him to take me the the ER. I couldn't breathe. So we get to the ER and I was so dehydrated they couldn't get an IV in or take blood. They had aobut 5 people try. (Needless to say I am covered with bruises) Finally they had the flight nurse come down from the helicoptor and got a line in. They called my baratric surgeon and he said do an ultra sound of my stomach. Sure enough my gallbladder was inflamed, full of stones and sludge. I had to be on IV antiboitics for 24 before he could even do anything. He was afraid if any of the Fluid got on the band it would erode. So finally about 8:00 Thursday night they had me in the OR. What should have been a simple 45 minute procedure took 2 hours. He said it was the worst gallbladder he had every seem and the hardest surgery he had ever done. GREAT!! They kept me in the hospital for 6 days. The last 2 I couldn't keep the IV's in my body kept rejecting them so they were giving everyhing in shots in my hips OUCH!!!

I am glad to be back home, but I'm still in lots of pain and very weak. I want to quit taking the pain meds they are making me so lethargic. Worst of all I've gained 5 lbs!:faint:

Thanks for listening.

If you have bad pain don't wait 4 days to go to the DR!!!

I hope you are all doing well and I will go back and read posts after my nap!

Take care of yourselves!

Trina

I was told by the billing supervisor at my Dr. on monday that there IS a CPT code for lapband fills.....she uses S2083 and says BCBS of MI pays every time, all I pay is my $10.00 office visit co-pay!

This was news to me, Since I joined this site everyone keeps saying there isn't a CPT code for this.

Just an F.Y.I.

Cowgirldreams, 3 fills huh? It sure would seem that you should have restriction by now. Your doing the right thing having the barium swallow. That should give you some good information. Hang in there and just take it one day at a time. I just read your post and wanted to encourage you a bit. Either the fills will start working or the problem will be found and fixed. Don't give up hope.

Trina - Hope you start feeling better soon!

No exercise today, feeling lousy. I was up so late last night trying to figure out wedding invitations, by the time I looked at the clock it was 1am, I usually get up at 4:30 for date with elliptical. Needless to say, I'll have to have a makeup session this weekend!

Hi Hopefulchurch. We have been wondering how you are! Looks like you are doing good!

Trina, that sounds just awful. Take it easy and heal.

cowgirldreams, suppose you band has a leak? I have heard of that. I don't know who or where your doc is but I think I would have it checked for that. Just an idea. I never heard of a 5 cc band. What kind of band do you have? I heard of 4 and 10 and one larger. Inamed I believe is the name of mine. (10cc).

Hi momlambert,

I'm in need of another fill as it's been over two months as my doc has been on holidays. I know it's easier to eat what I do eat and I've just made it my goal to not eat more than I should or things I shouldn't. I'm still feeling hungry some days so looking forward to fill next Thursday.

Cheers

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
