Progress so far! (Pics)

Recommended Posts

Since my surgery (RNY) 7 1/2 weeks ago weight loss has been a little slow. I'm down a total of 46 pounds but couldn't "see" much of a difference in myself. Well my daughter convinced me to take a pic of myself today and while it's not a huge difference, I can see some progress so far!

I see a huge difference - look, you hardly have any back fat left!! Hate back fat - lol! The big question is, how do you feel? I'm more excited that I have peace of mind, not mentally beating myself up anymore because I was eating unhealthy food - and too much of it - at every meal! It feels good to be living a healthier lifestyle, right?!

The dreaded back fat haha! Well I hate all fat and can't wait until I can post a pic at goal! I'm actually feeling great! I had been a little down because I've had some stalls and things are moving slow but I'm ok with it...I'm taking one day at a time. The weight will eventually come off. I hate looking at these pics and can't believe I posted them but they help me keep things in perspective and the more I look at them the more it motivates me to keep at it lol!

You're right - one day at a time! One other thing - Do you weigh yourself daily? If so, as hard as it will be, you might try switching to weekly weigh-ins so you're not as focused on the weight loss aspect of your new life. ☺️

@@IttyBit thanks! I actually don't weigh everyday, maybe 2 or 3 times a week...bad I know lol. I told myself I was going to weigh either once a week or every other. I haven't incorporated exercise into my day to day just yet so I'm sure once I start working out on a regular basis my weight loss will pick up.

From my experience, exercising helps you lose inches but not necessarily weight, just so you don't get too upset if that still doesn't help with the scale. Of course, this Protein thing is a whole new world for me - I'm only 3 weeks post op, so I could be wrong about that. Any regular exercisers out there who want to advise us on that?

Martene81, what a wonderful supportive daughter you have! She was right in encouraging you to take a picture. In less than 2 months what a difference. scale slow downs will happen for a time as our body adjust to changes. I am 9 months out, so closer to a year. My advice (for what it's worth) is keep following what is healthy for you and the weight will come off. You look amazing and will be at goal before you know it. Congratulations on your success so far.

@@Martene81,

Congratulations! You look absolutely fabulous!

The difference is very significant. I would not call you a slow loser at all. Prepare yourself for the next several months because it really does slow down and there will be stalls along the way but in the DNS if you follow the plan, the weight will drop off.

I just broke a 28 day stall at 10 months post op. I promise I was following the plan, getting as much exercise as possible in given I am recuperating from spine surgery. It was my second stall that lasted more than 10 days.

As someone else said don't let the scale rule your success. Start with how much better you are feeling and how your clothes are feeling.

You should be very proud of yourself, you look phenomenal already and it is only 7 weeks post op!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
