I am so confused and am so worried I am going to do something wrong I am freaking myself out. I am having surgery Thursday. I am pretty sure I am supposed to go on Clear liquids two days before which would be tomorrow. Yet I just looked on my doctor's website and it doesn't say anything about it on the week 2 liver reduction diet. Everyone is different so I am going to stop reading anything going forward about this.

My question is that can I drink Isopure on the clear liquid pre op? I was just thinking what am I supposed to drink on clear liquid, it is going to be chicken broth, Water, Jello, popcicles, crystal light. Is that all I can have? Just wondering how I will feel with no protien.

THanks,

Not sure why you would do this. It sounds as if you are on a 2 week diet anyway, correct? Then stick with that. There is absolutely no need to do a clear liquid diet for 2 days unless your doctor recommends one specifically for you.

I would think your doctor would have told you what you could have, especially if you are this close to surgery.

My doctor doesn't require any pre-op special diet, and has told me that, but he said he would go over it all again during the pre-surgery appointment (which would be 2 weeks prior to surgery).

I'd call the doctors office and ask.

The VERY best thing to do is call your dietician and clarify your diet. Everyone is different. Clear Liquids is liquids you can see through. Usually Jello, broth, popsicle, Water are on clear luquids. Please call dietician or doctors office to be sure.

Seems like many doctors have different procedures. My sleeve is this Friday. He started me on a no sugar no carb diet this past Saturday. I will switch to liquid only on Wednesday.

I would call his office, as I found most plans are all different

i did the liquids for a day and half before, not clear liquids, just liquids, but i was on a 2/3 liquid diet for two weeks prior anyway so it wasnt tough. But please check with your surgeon's office. its the best way to avoid pitfalls.

Like others are saying, you need to speak with your doctor since they are all different. My doctor requires a liquid diet one week pre-op because it helps to shrink the liver. I work with a woman who had sleeve and her doctor didn't require any pre-op diet at all. So, I don't think there is a right and wrong, just a preference per doctor. Deep breaths and remember, diet is not an exact science. Everybody is different and every doctor has his/her own preferences. But it helps to take slow, deep breaths and try to remain relaxed. Stress doesn't help anything. You'll do fine without Protein for a short time. Vegetarians do it. You can too. Slow...deep...breaths. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
