Hate chewable multivitamins!

Recommended Posts

I detest the "chewables." I've bought several swallows but they are to big. Any suggestions?

I like the bariatic Multivitamin that I got from the Vitamin store. It actually tastes okay. It is Twinlab Bariatric Support chewable Multi: berry flavor.

Is it taste? Is it texture? What is the problem?

I ordered liquid ones from GNC and at first they tasted good but after surgery I just couldn't handle them. Felt sick every dose. I tried in powdered Protein and yogurt shakes. Still bad. Finally I started putting them in a half of strawberry premier shake and putting in blender. I spent too much money to waste the Vitamins.

All of the above. I just want to swallow at pill. It's easy.

I couldn't find any swallow pills that had high enough doses of Vitamins and were small enough to swallow. pills are the hardest thing on my sleeve right now.

I have the bariactiv Vitamins and they just melt in your mouth, the taste isn't bad, and it is better than deal will pill discomfort.

My case manager prefers us to take Centrum adult... That way you can choose between the chewables or non-chewable form. She recommended staying with the chewables until 3 months post op.... And you have to take 2 a day at least 2 hours apart and 2 hours away from the calcium citrate.

My nutritionist says you can switch to Centrum MVI. I like the Bariatric Advantage ones, that being said why can't you just swallow that one instead of chewing?

I see that has magnesium in it. Somewhere I read yesterday that mag was good for muscle aches. I have had horrible aches since surgery when I wake up in morning. I went and checked my Calcium I have taken for years and it was mainly magnesium in it. Started taking it and (hopefully it's not my imagination) I felt 10 times better this morning. Took double the amount yesterday. I called nurse yesterday to see if I could take the pills now since I'm 8 weeks out and she said yes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
