My surgery was on Monday, June 22, 2015. My weight was 256 before my preop diet, and today I'm down to 233. I decided to have the sleeve after my GP, GYN and cardiologist all suggested I should consider WLS. I had hypertension and was on two meds, high cholesterol and was on Crestor, and was recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes. And did I mention I'm a cardiac OR nurse? I knew if I didn't do something, my life would be cut short. After about a year of deliberating, I finally decided on the sleeve.

I am now on no meds aside from Pepcid AC Complete twice a day and Vitamins. My BP this morning was 114/78!!! Thank you, Lord! My BP was never that good on two meds!

I am struggling with wanting to eat while I'm on week 2 of liquids. I suppose that's a bit of my food addiction kicking in and a normal response to not eating. I look foward to sharing with all of you as we journey on...personally and together!

What a difference a week makes!

I have similar statistics - started pre approval on Halloween at 250 lb. 225 lb at surgery, with 219 this morning.

I am on pureed foods - yogurt and custard are great, but I cannot gag down pureed chicken. liquids are OK, and I have started drinking broth for the small amount of Protein they bring (2 gm/cup)

Also a nurse - aren't we a stubborn lot!

I have to ask both of you @ @greenbaymichk and @@AnniLou - did you get any sleep if you stayed the night post-op? Or did you get woke up all night (about every 45 minutes) by a nurse sticking a thermometer in your mouth, blood pressure cuff on your arm, etc? Love you guys, my son's an RN, but I wanted to sleep and not think about the thirst!

I was awakened around midnight and then around 5AM. (I think..... didn't have my glasses on!) Our hosp. has a pretty decent "quiet" time. I was hooked up to heart and O2 sat monitors, along with my IV and compression sleeves. Slept fairly well.

I had a rough first post op night - had trouble keeping my oxygen levels where they should be. (a combination of obesity, anesthesia and my positioning.) Therefore, I had lots of nursing attention, and I am grateful for it. I did better the second night - I brought an eye mask and was only awakened when they scanned my wrist to hang IV meds.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
