@@Pejela, how are you doing? I will be there tomorrow for my surgery. It's late in the day at INT hospital. I stay in hospital for 2 nights, then they put me up in the Laverna hotel. So I guess we won't meet in person :( Unless we ask to stay in the Marriott. I don't know, I think we have to go where they put us. I hope everything went well for you and that you don't have too much pain or gas. Keep me up to date!

@@Dawn thank you so much for checking in it means a lot! It was a suicessful surgery, it wasn't easy but I got up and walked like a sloth a few hours after the surgery and just finished doing 4 more laps at better pace. My incision that they took the excess stomach out is where it hurts but bearable I'm at OCC then Marriott tomorrow! Love the staff here and meeting Dr Ortiz and all the Drs were awesome to! I hear fantastic reviews about your dr too, bring a small pillow so when you cough you can hold it on your belly it doesn't hurt as bad, definitely use the inspirometer and bring Biotene for dry mouth for after surgery. Did you fazt!? Good luck sending you prayers of a smooth surgery and rapid recovery! ☺️????????

My doctor requires a low carb diet of 20 carbs a day. Does anyone else's surgeon require this? Also my post op is:

2 weeks Clear liquids

Week 3-4 full liquid

Week 5-6 purée / soft

Week 7 soft

Week 8 start healthy diet

yes mine does but clear for 3 days, I have Dr. Ortiz and my NUT gave me this plan, just got surgery today and I am doing much better than I thought let you know on my journey.

Had surgery yesterday

I hurt like hell gas is ******* crazy and my 6 sutures are extremely sore. Doctor said everything went really well. Threw up last night most horrible experience ever as well as you throat hurts like crazy. Was walking around yesterday but it's painful to push to pee or fart ;:-/

I am sorry you are having so much pain. Please don't suffer in silence! Let the nurses know, or the doctor, or your coordinator or facilitator, or whoever is with you. Make sure you get on some pain killers. As for the gas, I know lots of people have the same trouble. All you can do is walk around to get your body metabolism going so that it can get rid of the gas. If you are out of the hospital, some people say GAs-x helps. If you can, send someone to the local pharmacy (or farmacia if you are in MX) to pick some up for you. Here's hoping for a day full of burps and farts so help you feel better :)

;):huh::blush:

They're definitely trying to keep my pain under control just a lot of medicines are making me queasy including the medicine for gas. Trying to keep up with my liquids is difficult but I trying by best.

bring a pillow to hold over the sutures so when you cough it doesn't hurt as much, it's really not that bad the pain just feels like I did a 100 sit-ups but walking is helping

That's good to hear! What hospital are you in? And do you know what hotel you will be staying at? I suspect you will be at the Marriott and I am at the Lucerna. That sounds like a very sensible diet. Did they give you a book or anything written down to follow? I am supposed to get a book called "The Big Gastric Sleeve Book". I also found the diet from that book online. Here's the web address is anyone wants to go look at it:

Hello guys, you think it will help to wear abdominal binder post surgery to help with the abdominal pain?

@@jfer, that might be a good idea. Where did you hear that? Darn....it's too late for me to run out to shop for such a thing!

Wow! How many sutures to you have? Didn't they do it laproscopically? So you should only have 4 to 5 small inscision sites. What do you have?

It was done laparoscopically I have 6 sutures. The one my stomach came out of is the largest and most painful.

@@Dawn306 when I had my laparoscopic hysterectomy it hurts turning on my side in bed which I am a side sleeper. It hurts my belly/sutures maybe because it was stretching. The friend recommended the abdominal binder for me to use home.I do alternative first to relive pain other than taking pain meds right away.I put it over my shirt cos if I put it directly around my skin it sweat on the abdominal binder after couple hours. It helps me too when getting out of bed supporting my belly. So, maybe post sleeve might help it too. Ice pack also might help.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
