I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I've been trying not to have too many food funerals, and I feel pretty positive about tomorrow ????

Just the thought that this surgery is permanent - I might not be able to have ice cream ever again - just the thought is scarey. I want to lose the weight, but I want to still be able to have ice cream.

Actually, eventually, you WILL be able to eat ice cream again, but isn't eating all that luscious stuff that we shouldn't what got us here in the first place? Your tastes may change - you may not be craving sweets after - and this is a TOOL to get us where we need to be to START OVER and start eating healthy. If you don't start the good habits before surgery, you set yourself up for failure after. IT'S NOT A QUICK FIX!

Sure, you can have ice cream afterwards - in moderation, after you've had the stuff that's GOOD for you. Eat to live, not live to eat. Treats are just that: occasional TREATS, not daily fare.

Thanks LoreLu for your encouragement. I have posted in a couple of forums, looking for some support and encouragement, since I really had a day of panic and regret yesterday. Yours was the only response that I got. So, thanks again! I'm still a "go" for August 12th.

My surgery is delayed, I was supposed to have surgery August 12th. I tested positive for h-pylori and am on 3 high powered antibiotics. Anyone has this before? I had absolutely no symptoms.

My surgery is also 8/12. I too had tested positive for h-pylori and had to take the antibiotic treatment. I was told it was very common to fail. Fortunately I had enough time to be re-tested before my surgery was scheduled. I passed the re-test. Don't worry, it will only be a short delay.

I have had h-pylori before, the drugs knocked me out. You make me nervous. What if I have something like that when I get to Mexico? I have been washing my hands and taking Vitamins, but like txcoon I might not be having symptoms of anything.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
