Follow-Up Appointments?

Recommended Posts

I am impatient as usual - meaning I contacted my dr office but haven't heard back so I'm looking for feedback here :)

My 3-month follow-up appointment was scheduled for July 10. I received a call late last week asking if I could reschedule my appointment for OCTOBER. I was so flabbergasted that I just agreed to it. On hindsight, is that a good idea? Shouldn't I be doing blood work or something to make sure all of my stats look good?

Thoughts? Thanks :)

Wow..seems a bit far out. I am six months out and get blood work done for the first time now. I might call back and visit with them.

Yeah even if you don't have a f/u you should get your bloodwork checked. My F/U were 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 mth, 6mth and my next will be at 1 year. I had bloodwork checked at my 6 week follow up. My Vitamin D was a little low. I was given prescription strength Vitamin D to take for 12 weeks. I just had a repeat of my bloodwork and all levels are fine. In fact I no longer need my B12 supplements at all and my Multi-Vitamin has been cut back to 1 a day. I wouldn't have known any of this if I did get regular bloodwork. If you bariatric doc doesn't do it, I would recommend calling your GP and having it done.

My first follow up with my surgeon was 3 weeks after surgery. The next one is scheduled 6 weeks after that.

The NUT first appointment was the week after surgery with the follow up scheduled for about 8 weeks after that.

Wow ! they bumped you right off their schedule to second appointment.

Seems unfair to me, you should call them and see if they've another opening sooner at some time soon.

Non the less, if you have questions for them call and ask them too, it's your right to have appropriate access.

Don't get discouraged, buckled down to what your doing, find answers here and call them too if you feel stuck on things.

Lots of luck

The RN called me back today. The PA in the office had her baby so everything is chaotic in her absence. They do blood work at 6 months so I'm okay. I was concerned about carbs, but she said as long as I'm hitting my Protein, liquid and exercise goals they aren't too concerned with carbs (plus with the amount of food we can eat, carbs can't really add up that fast!). At 3 months I have lost 50% of my excess weight (69 of 137 lbs), so she said I'm doing well. I plan to start attending their monthly support groups to keep myself on track! This is so hard but so worth the effort!! We are blessed :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
