How to Research Mexico Surgeons

I am considering gastric sleeve, my insurance won't cover it, and I am very close to making arrangements for doing this in Mexico-- aiming for August 2015. I've done lots of internet research but, worry that some of what I read is written, or sponsored, by the surgeon. Any thoughts as to how to get some objective information? Should they be certified by, or a member of a certain organization? I am also worried about after care, i.e. if I have a leak afterwards are we going to loose our house from the resulting medical bills, states side? I really want to do this. I just want to be cautious and make the most informed choice. Any thoughts or advice is welcome!! I am considering Dr. Fernando Garcia in Tijuana. Thanks in advance for any help!

@@Paulina Green. Is Dr. Lopez in Tijuana? May I ask the price range you paid if you self-paid? I found one doctor in Mexicali that I was excited about (for my daughter) and the price they quoted with their paperwork was nearly double what is listed on this site under his doctor profile. I really need to get an idea of how much this would cost in Mexico.

@@Memilie80 I'm so sorry that happened to you! How awful and scary!! Was this in Tijuana too?
