For those that are post op, do to recall how long after your last nutrition appointment was your surgery scheduled? My last nutrition appointment is on the 9th, so I was just trying to get a gauge on how the process with Chrias moves after that.

My last appointment was 11/9, and I got my surgery date right after Thanksgiving. So it was a few weeks. My insurance approval was very quick (like 3 or 4 days!!). Throw in Thanksgiving and that slowed things down a bit. If you are going through Dr. Wynn/Irgau/etc., you might want to stop in or call and make sure that they have all of your clearances. They had all of mine, but not one of my husband's. It was an easy fix, but if you are anxious to get a surgery date (and who isn't? ;)).

Hello ! I had my sleeve surgery in October 2016. My issue that I am having now is that I am craving sweets and carbs. I am having a hard time just saying no to them. I also haven't been exercising lately. I need motivation and support. I live in Delaware , but currently commuting to King go Prussia for work 5 days a week, working 10 hour shifts. With all the traffic I deal with I am exhausted mentally and physically when I get home. I need some advice. I know I need to remove the trigger/ slider items out of my environment . I need to get back on track. Encourage !

Well sounds like you did a great diagnostic of your program and Identified at least two common issues. You need to get back on track right away before you spiral down and start to regain. Search 5 day pouch test, this method should stop the cravings for the carbs. Make sure you always have a good Protein snack with you for that long commute. The "not exercising to tired" is a vicious cycle, exercise is what helps us mentally to reset and also builds the energy back. Start small with just walking. You have done this before, and you are important enough to do it again.Try to be more active on the website or go to local Support Group if you can. Do not allow your hard work so far to go to waste. The further you get out the harder it is to stay on program so start TODAY!! Try to be more active on the website or go to local Support Group if you can.

I have a big box of size 18 clothes up for grabs! Lots of business casual items. Blazers, tops and pants. Pick up in Newark or North Wilmington. Any takers?

Hi,

Today I joined this group. I had sleeve surgery on March 7th at Wilmington Hospital. I have lost 76 lbs. Dr. Irgau was my surgeon. Absolutely love him! A friend recommended Dr. Wynn, but she wasn't available when I wanted. I'm so glad that I decided to go with him. I'm not saying Dr. Wynn isn't good. I'm sure she is. Just I am so pleased with his mannerism and his professionalism.

I have a couple barriers:

- My family support system is basically gone. They were great a first. Not too much any more. I've talked to them and I get that I know what to do or I'm old enough to know what is right and what is wrong. Ugh!!

- I have a thyroid disease with large nodules that may need surgery. This is causing very slow weight loss.

- I have leg problems that makes exercising / walking difficult.

Does anyone know if there are support groups in the northern Wilmington area?

Any ideas are definitely welcomed.

Thank you for listening!

Hello:

I found this listing on a different website, it seems to list a lot but the did not list my group but that is OK, I am not close enough for you so check out the list.

http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/PA/27772/re-Delaware-support-Group-list/

I would thought you doctor would have said to go to the CHRAIS Support Group. However, you can go to any support groups or multiple ones.

Sounds like you need the support, so find one that fits or at least become active on the On line support sites. Good Luck!

They did say to go there. I don't live that close to Christiana Hospital. Besides traffic is horrible around there this time of year.

I understand, that part of the reason I started a group in Dover. That list gives you some other options.

I hope one will work for you.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
