:omg:Well, it took me 11 months but when I went out to the mailbox today there it was-----------------------------MY INSURANCE APPROVAL for my lap band. I jumped thru all the hoops and FINALLY BC/BS of Alabama agreed that I could try to be banded. They are only letting me have one weight loss surgery in my lifetime.(at least they are only paying for one):biggrin1:

Is it "normal" to feel elated? And at the same time to feel a little trepidation? okay maybe alot? Is is "normal" to wish that I could have lost all the excess weight with Weight Watchers and maintain the loss?

Right now I feel so many different emotions: happiness, fear, joy, hope, uncertainty, etc.

Originally I thought I would be banded in March 2007. Now I need to prepare myself mentally again that it is going to happen and I hope soon.

Any words of wisdom out there would be so appreciated at this time.:help:

Thanks,

michelle

Congradulations on getting approved. I was born and raised in Cincinnati also. My wife and I are in the process of getting are paper work in for approval. We have Pre-op testing in a couple of weeks and then meet the doctor. Hope to be approved for the fall time.

Congratulations!! Yes, it's normal to feel 100 different emotions...been there, done that. But speaking from the other side I can tell you that you will LOVE your band!! The feeling of being in control is sooooo worth it.

I know exactly how you feel. After my approval my surgery was 2 weeks away. I had never had any kind of surgery before and i was pretty anxious. But the reason i decided to get the band in the first place was because i didn't want to spend the rest of my life gaining and losing weight. i wanted a permanent solution. After the surgery i even had a few moments of thinking "why have i done this to myself? I am never going to be able to eat like a normal person again!" but that passed and i am so glad i have my band. i am 3 mos post op and i have lost 39 lbs and 24 in off my whole body. One thing i did before surgery was make a list of all the things i hated about being fat. I am now able to go back over that list and mark some of those things off because they don't apply to me anymore. Yea!

Thanks to all of you will your well wishes and support! I don't have a date set yet but probably will in about two weeks and I really need to hear all the positives about the lap band. So many of you say they really love their band because it keeps them in control and that is what I really need. I was put on my first diet in third grade and have been chubby ever since. I am so looking forward to a life without fat although I am realisitc about the work I have ahead of me.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Thanks,

Michelle:girl_hug:

Hi Michelle, congrats to you. I remember waiting on my insurance as well. It took me about 8 weeks to get approved. Now is the time for you to feel excitement. The lapband will change your life. Good luck.

Awww! Michelle, I'm SO happy for you! I'm giving you the award for Most Patience!

I went through the flux of emotions, it took me 6 months to make up my mind. I too wished I could have done it on my own. I considered giving it another try, but realized I would be repeating the same cycle --> lose --> gain more --> lose --> gain again.

I needed the Lapband to help me with the weightloss, and then to maintain. I get many comments on how I'm wasting away and how well I've maintained.

The emotions you are experiencing are normal, you wouldn't be human otherwise :)

As I said, I'm SO happy for you... and envious, I was self pay.

Keep the excitement going, make sure to let us know when you schedule the surgery date!

All the best,

Karla

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
