What are the best vitamins you have found?

Recommended Posts

I am having a hard time finding a great Multi-Vitamin. Most of them are missing several key Vitamins causing the need to buy additional bottles. What has everyone else found? :)

I've been taking Vitaleph Bariatric Multivitamins since I started my pre-op diet. I'm now 9 months post-op and all my blood work has been perfect. I also take a bunch of other Vitamins too though....

I take Trader Joe's High Potency chewables. I also take supplemental Iron, B12, folic acid, Calcium, and D3 -- but I took all of those before surgery, too. I like the Trader Joe's because they taste fine (not like fake candy, but pleasant), and are cheaper, lower calorie, and lower carb than most specialty bariatric Vitamins. I took 2 per day for the first 6 months or so after surgery, then switched to 1 per day. My labs have always been great.

I never had to take chewables, thank God. I was allowed to swallow whole pills at 7 days post-op and never had any issues. So I have been on normal pills the whole time. I take:

  • Vitaleph Bariatric Multivitamin three times per day
  • Omeprazole 20mg two times per day
  • Probiotic once a day
  • 500mg Vitamin C once a day
  • 200iu coq10 once a day
  • 1000mg Omega 3 once a day
  • 500mg Beef Gelatin once a day
  • 1000iu Vitamin D once a day
  • 630mg Calcium + 500iu D3 once a day
  • 500mcg Vitamin B-12 spray once a day

My surgeon/nutritionist only require the Multivitamin, calcium+D3, probiotic, and B-12. The omeprazole is for my acid reflux I've had since surgery. The coq10 was recommended by my PCP for my carpel tunnel syndrome. The Omega 3 and Vitamin C I take just for general health. The extra vitamin D I take because I avoid the sun like the plague and have been taking it for years and years. And the Beef Gelatin I started taking post-op because it's supposed to help with skin elasticity.

Mr dr. said 2 flintstones complete per day, plus viactiv Calcium and Vitamin D. I also do a chewable fish oil and Biotin.< /p>

I LOVE Flintstones Vitamins. I think I might talk to my surgeon and see if he'll approve them for me, because I absolutely loathe the bariatric vitamin I'm currently taking. It's called Bariatric Advantage and it's fruit punch flavored. They're huge, and every time I eat one, I just want to vomit.

Thanks for the ideas! I'm going to have to look into the beef Gelatin. I am dreading the saggy skin. I have already started saving for plastic surgery. B)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
