Does anybody else go through mood swings since they had weight loss surgery? I don't know what's wrong with me sometimes. I take care of my elderly grandparents. I do the cooking, laundry, and help out with doctor appointments. When I cook I have to cook my food separately because since surgery a lot of things they still eat I can't eat right now.

So I was advising my grandfather that he may need to order take out for him and my grandma because the spaghetti didn't turn out right and he begins to jump down my throat. Now I'm doing my best and it seems like I get no appreciation for it. So I snapped, and explained to them that I'm doing my best and it doesn't help that they are jumping down my throat like its my job to do this. Maybe I'm wrong for getting upset, but when someone is trying to help you and the only one out of the 5 grand kids to help them then they should be more appreciative. Sorry just needed to vent.

For the 1st few months post-op, I was having major mood swings, then everything went back to normal. But the 1st 2 weeks post-op were the worst, I wanted to fight the world!! :P

It took me a solid year to quit wanting to fight the world. I'm sure you will level out much sooner. I'm just slow to adjust. These days I'm pretty even keeled and don't let much bother me. I even ignore most annoying or unreasonable things people do.

It's only occasionally that I get mad about anything. Don't worry - you'll adjust. It's hard to deal with but you'll find your own way.

I can blame WLS for my moods!?!?!?!

I am the only female in the house and I hear the "M-word" (I am old, menopause) a lot :D

I will correct them as soon as I get home ;D

Yes it is terrible. I get really angry over things I usually don't get mad about. It sucks!!!

7 months out and I am still a little more quick to lose my temper. No you are not wrong to be upset about doing something nice for them and they are not appreciating it.

Oh my, I haven't even had the surgery yet and I am Moody! God help them and us. Them- the innocent (or antagonists) to deal with our cranky behinds and help us to be gentle and kind to "them" and ourselves.

Gggrrrr

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
