Wow I can't believe that it's over. I have been planning, researching, obsessing over going to TJ for VSG for the past 6 months. I arrived in TJ on Wednesday (5/27/15) evening, sleeved on Thursday (5/28/15) morning and now I have just arrived back home. Whew!!! I feel great, no significant pain to speak of, and minus the immediate post Op phase no lingering nausea. Still a long road ahead of me but grateful to be on the sleeved side of the fence????????

Congrats on joining the losers bench! Glad to hear you are feeling okay so far. Take it very easy. Don't push yourself too far too fast. Sip, sip, sip and walk, walk walk!

How have the first couple days of your pre-op diet been?

@@JamieLogical I survived day 1. :) Just starting day 2. I'm giving my treadmill a rest until I do this a few days. I just keep thinking that this will get me closer to my final goal and is a short term challenge that I can do.

@@JamieLogical I survived day 1. :) Just starting day 2. I'm giving my treadmill a rest until I do this a few days. I just keep thinking that this will get me closer to my final goal and is a short term challenge that I can do.

Yeah, I tried keeping up with my cardio in the beginning, but when I did the math and realized I was only "eating" about 450 calories a day on the pre-op diet and burning about 500-600 through cardio, I realized it wouldn't be long before I just collapsed. So I ended up having to cut way back on my cardio as well.

I literally got to the point in those first 4-5 days of the pre-op where it was too much physical effort for me to even wash my hair!

@@JamieLogical I know what you mean. I'm also worried that I'd get to the point where I'd feel like I had to eat. After a couple more days I'll do some short walks to keep my routine going.

I got sleeved on June 8th in TJ. One of the best trips I have ever taken! to answer you questions about stitches and drain: there were no stitches on the 4 small incisions for the laparoscopy and they were sealed with surgical glue.I did have a drain which was removed on the 3rd morning beore we were released. The removal was ot real pleasant but only lasted for a few seconds. No big deal. You will be fine!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
