So after calling insurance all week- it looks like my pre-auth was originally submitted without a procedure code, and with the incorrect date?

It does show approval for one day inpatient, but it is for a date next year? So the rep I talked to said they have to resubmit with the correct day and ask for two days instead of one.

The insurance coordinator is not in the office today-- I feel like I am doing a ton of leg work that should be her job-- the things that were missing were pretty basic and how did they have the day wrong? ????????. Crazy--

So I think I am approved, but they need to resubmit! Ugh!!!! I am calling Monday Morning when she is back in the office!

Frustrated---

I know it can be very frustrating. After I made the decision to get gastric bypass surgery, it took almost three months to even get the paperwork submitted! My pcp and her MA kept holding things up because neither one knew what papers they needed to fill out. I'm the one who looked up the information, after calling my insurance company, which is what they should have done. I actually wrote down the website where the instructions for bariatric surgery was so they could get started. That's after I changed my pcp for not starting the paperwork after three weeks. The current pcp I have is on her third MA that I know of. It was so frustrating!! I had to call multiple times a day because they would never return my calls. Finally, thank God, the head nurse (I believe) took on my case, because I had been through so much. And she's been wonderful. I still get impatient because she's so busy it's hard to get in touch with her, but I know she's got my back. Now, I am literally waiting for my approval.

So don't give up. Keep pushing. Keep pressing. You are your strongest advocate. You will make it! ????

How has it been ?

The liquid diet? Better than I expected. The first 3-4 days were the worst. It's getting better now. The hardest part is I'm a mom and I'm still prepping food for everyone else. Temptation everywhere! But I'm motivated by making sure my stomach and liver are the best they can be for my surgery in 9 days!

I received an approval letter today, but it lists 8/24/2016 as the anticipated date of service like the rep in the phone told me on Friday.

I am not exactly sure what this means-- so yeah for approval, but might need more paperwork to change the date?

I still think this is good news!

** the date issue has been corrected! All good to go- now just to wait!! Ugh!

@@CHLOE12 I am definitely getting nervous. I have about three weeks left, so I've been channeling that into preparing — getting my leave paperwork in order at work, ordering Protein, getting my apartment super clean, etc. I'm planning pretty soon to clean out my fridge and food cabinets of things that aren't on my plan. And putting my Proteins, blender, supplements, etc all in order and easily accessible. I might make some kind of chart so I can check off all my meds and Vitamins since they have to be taken at different times. I find this all calming because I'm doing what I can to make things easier for myself instead of focusing on all the worries I can't control!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
