Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the OCC

I've read mostly positive posts about Dr. Ortiz and OCC on this and other forums. A few people don't seem to like his "celebrity" status and I did find some older complaints about their bands. Anyone out there with bad experiences or complications with their sleeves from him?

Let me know how your consult went :-) Happy Friday!!!! Oh and I tried that vitaleph stuff they wanted us to buy..yuck..thank god I only got the two for the 15 day stint - I will stick to my Unjury and premier protein..I added PB2 to the vitaleph stuff and it made it a little better..YUCK!

Your doing AWESOME !! I have to lose 15 lbs I will start it on Monday. Are you on strictly liquids? I haven't recieved the emAil from the nutritionalist yet. My biggest barrier will be getting the required amount of water in :(

Having surgery @ occ TODAY!! Leaving the hotel in about 15min. Great experience so far ( transport/hotel.) I'll try to update post op when I'm awake enough.

I'm 2nd to last surgery so playing the agonizing waiting game. Sigh...isn't helping my nerves at all.

How many are scheduled? We were lucky, my daughters were first and second that day. They were well on the mend walking the hallway by the time the last one went into surgery.

Hang in there. Your wait is almost over. By tonight you will be sleeping like a baby!

Ha! He said he specializes in marketing. ????. Tell him to quit talking and get on with the surgeries. You want to get on with this. Hehee. Seriously, he is great and will explain away any concerns you may have. Good luck!

Good luck Mduffield...........I will be anxiously awaiting your update as I am scheduled for Jan12th   Wishing you all the best in surgery and post-op   Ruth

Good luck.  Dr. Ortiz and his staff will take wonderful care of you.  See you on the sleeved side.

I am 3 weeks post-op today and have lost 12 pounds since weigh-in (actually gained about 3 pounds during surgery or at least that's what my scales stated when I returned home).

I returned to work on Monday, Jan 5th and I have felt great all week. I was on purees and that definitely helped with my energy level. I have to work on getting more liquids and proteins in. Right now I am getting about 50 oz of liquids and about 50 grams of protein. I think with me, it is really a timing issue. I get busy at work and don't always eat or drink at the right times.

I also joined a bariatric support group at Emory Hospital Midtown. The group is led by doctors, psychologists, dietitians, and health fitness experts. My first meeting is Monday evening. This is good timing because I am suppose to start exercising today. But I am afraid that I will do the wrong type exercise and do harm to me and my sleeve. So getting that expert advice is what I need now.

Hi just wondering if anyone got sleeved by Dr Ortiz, and how would they say their experience was, I'm considering choosing Dr Ortiz for sleeve surgery in the near future.

I am scheduled with Dr A. Ortiz on Monday. I'll let you know how it goes :)

Im at a lose :( I will be having surgery soon on feb 5th however I don't know what vitamins to chose. Is it ok to just take a multi vitamine? and vitamine C and D ? Im confused as Im in Canada and we don't have the ones that the clinic is asking me to purchase. Also the protien shakes.. is it ok to have low car low fat and high protein say 18 grams?
