Love the food porn - however, I just can't make it happen. Kind of like art for me - the concept is great in my mind, but my hands don't seem to create it.

Wow, you guys are amazing, I am from Buffalo, n.y. and was banded on 6/9/08 and have lost 75 lbs, but i was way too tight in may and was deflated. At the time, I was 197 but gained 20 lbs. I am up to 5.7cc in a 10 cc band and I have been stuck at the same wt for months, I look at what some of you guys are eating, and I'm blown away by all the carbs! However, you are all doing so well, so what gives. Maybe I should eat skittles and cheesecake lol......vicki

P.S. does the band keep working after the first year. what is the average wt loss after the first year?

not sure what carbs your talking about - but i like to include complex ones into my diet (fruit/veggies/whole grains). i work out decently, spin 3x a wk / weight train another 2 - if i went all protein.... well, i'm not going to be satisfied for long periods of time.

that is just my experience with playing around with food for the last 2yrs and yes you can be successful after a yr. i've been maintaining for 14 months - but still "try" to make healthy choices / nutritional ones on most days.

I did! Breakfast and lunch went down pretty good (slow, but good). Dinner...not so much. It took me almost an hour to drink one can of slim fast low carb. Hopefully I will loosen back up in the next day or so.

I'm also not sure about what carbs you're speaking of! Most people are doing very low carbs. Most of the recipes on here are the low-carb versions.. For me, I am very low-carb. My cheesecake is made with splenda and a almond crust. This thread is definetly amazing, it is a trip to see what people are eating.

today

b-banana creme muscle milk (could only get half down)

l-1/2 cup cioppino

d- Cookies and creme muscle milk

I think I'm turning back into a sweetaholic! I really need to do a detox. We are going to a BBQ restaurant tomorrow, so I think I'll do shakes for b'fast and lunch and eat a bowl of brunswick stew for dinner. Starting Saturday, I may do a couple of days of LC shakes. I crave sugar like crazy! I know if I can last a few days without it, the cravings will go away. Sticking to it is the hard part!

On a good note, I finished up all my steroids! I'm soooo glad to be off of them. I am going to have to work hard to lose all the pounds I've gained! Especially since I can't exercise right now.

Okay....vent over.

Today:

B- LC Slim Fast

S- Pack of M&M's, 2 pieces Dove caramel chocolate (individuals)

L- 1/2 of a chicken bowl from KFC

S- rest of my chicken bowl

D- part of an italian sandwich from Domino's, crunchy lava cake

I've been eating out waayyy too much too. Gotta eat at home more!

Today was not a good day….

B – 2/3 C. steel cut oatmeal

L – Leftovers from dinner: ½ C gazpacho, ½ C. asst. salad bar stuff

S – sugar free pudding w/ sugar free cool whip and PB2

D1 – 3oz London broil, 2 slices of roast eggplant…..All of this came back up. I knew better than to eat tough beef and the eggplant wasn’t much better.

D2 – Lg glass of Hood ff milk, Fiber One Fulfill bar, too many Baked Cheetos….still hungry and wanted something that would go down easy.

S – Hood ff milk w/ chocolate Protein powder…went to the kitchen looking for more junk because of course the Cheetos didn’t sustain me. Decided to nip it in the bud by having this. Finally got the protein, it stayed down, and all was well.

Tomorrow will be better and I’m so very grateful that a bad day these days is still better than a most good days pre-banding.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
