After I lost my first 50 pounds, I made up this rewards list for myself. You will figure out easily that I have a Celtic Scots-Irish heritage, but the nature of some of my rewards.

Weight Loss Rewards

185 - “Yes” trip to Trader Joe’s for specialty items

180 – Kitchen gadget, probably a reversible stovetop grill / griddle

175 – Garden gloves and hat (use gloves for work-out also?)

170 – More CD’s for outside exercise / or MP 3 player w/sleeve band

165 – Backyard fitness trail equipment

160 = Plants for the yard = lilacs or honeysuckle

155 – ½ hour massage at Massage Envy

150 – Genealogy trip somewhere

145 – Style consultation

140 – Another Professional bra fitting

135 – Family portraits

Alternate suggestions: replace Claddaugh ring, nice jewelry item (maybe an ankle bracelet), go to arts and crafts fair (or Scottish festival), go to that local church flea market, office supplies or new deluxe office chair)

I am expecting on this week weigh in to have hit losing the 100 pounds. So, as a treat I am going to get a much needed pedicure. I haven't decided what I am going to do for the next 50 pounds. Its good to have something to work towards.

I didn't. I wanted to get away from the idea of my eating being some thing I thought about as special. I wanted it to become my norm. Just being slimmer and feeling fit and good about myself was all the motivation or reward I needed.

But I did splash out on a very expensive, long leather coat when I was below goal.

If nothing else, you can look forward to shopping for new clothes.

Bags!!!!! I love the Dooney and Bourkes, and Kate Spade, so every ten pounds I lose I treat myself. I save up for it in the weeks/months prior to the goal. Ok. So sometimes I'm not QUITE on goal, but what an incentive!!!!

@@Miss Mac, I love lilac and honeysuckle. I just treated myself to a solid perfume compact of lilac scent this week.

My indulgences are:

Seeing lots of movies

Scented hard milled soaps

Foot massages

Manicures

Friday night out with the girls to listen to bands

That reminds me. I need to buy some new perfumes. Maybe my first quality ones - ever - instead of dollar store bargains. I have worked hard for this.

Isn't that enough?

Actually I bought a new saddle....had to, my old one was way to big for my new skinny butt.

I am currently at 23kgs (50lbs) and when I hit 30kgs (66lbs) I will be treating to myself to a full spa day - with the works!!! It will also be my half way point so I think it deserves some special attention xx

I love this idea. At 50 lbs I wanted to get a tat but still haven't... Instead I redid my make up. I think I'll have to consider my own list.

The biggest reward(s) was just to treat myself with self-respect.

I learned to take care of myself and that meant anything from a personal trainer to help me with core strengthening/weight training/balance to things like buying not just pretty clothes, but finally buying better clothes. There's nothing wrong with buying less expensive when you are going down in sizes or if you are just unable to spend the money but if you are in a position to do so, start buying designer clothes for work and play. No question, a Ralph Lauren dress fits and feels different than something bought at Kohl's or Walmart. It just does..and I'm worth it.

I also have makeup overflowing..probably a dozen or more tubes of lipstick alone. I go for massages and manicures and pedicures because I now live the well known line 'woman, thy name is vanity'. I feel pretty again and I want to look pretty because I'm worth it.

I buy all kinds of accessories as well. I have quite a bit of fashion jewelry so that I can mix and match my real stuff with the less expensive stuff and it feels like I'm wearing a new outfit even if it's just new jewelry and a new purse and/or shoes. Yes...I went from one black and one brown pocketbook to now owning nearly a dozen bags in different colors and styles/sizes. Excessive? Maybe. But I'm worth it. And I also have lots of shoes as well. Again..I'm worth it. Unfortunately, I didn't know how often I would have to buy new shoes...my shoe size went from 8 1/2 wide to 7 regular..but that's another thread..lol.

I've been living a ghost life for such a long time..hiding behind my size and trying not to be noticed. Now I want to be noticed. I'm not saying I feel entitled..but I am saying over and over...I am worth it. I have value and I deserve to take care of myself.

So do all of you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
