Banding.....August 2007! Who else?

Recommended Posts

My date is the 20th and I agree with what others have said. I am scared, nervous, excited..... lots of emotions!!! I am 5'3 307, and 39 years old on Sept 4. I am having problems with emotional eating, craving foods I have not eaten in months and months. I try not to let those cravings get the best of me, but it is not easy!!!

Not really sure how this board works but I'm trying. I was banded Aug. 8, 2007. Last week. Really wanting someone to buddy with from the same time or people ahead of me to tell me what to expect. Thanks.

RedFiona, we are going to be band buddies, my surgery is the 20th too! So far I am pretty proud of myself with the pre-op diet of nothing but carnation instant Breakfast. I haven't cheated and besides a headache I feel pretty good.

Nuddybuddy, congrats on the band! I hope you are feeling good and you are definitely in the right place for some support!

Miss Darlene,

I really didn't ask for any. I am allergic to morpheine so that was a def. no. They gave me a pain ball. Never heard of that either. It looks like a min. bowling ball & it had a strap so you could carry it with you or as they told me where it around my neck when I was up going to the bathroom & it had a tube connected to it that went to one of my incisions. (You will have like 4 tiny incisions & then your big 1 for your port if you are having it done laprosopic) & I asked for the ball to be removed when I left the hospital because I didn't want to full with it. Then they gave me liquid ibuprofen & some nasal spray called stadol ns.

The nasal spray really makes you sleepy. Then I also had to fill some fragmin. That's shots I have to give myself for 10 days so I won't get blood clots. He says that's just routine. (Expensive is what that is) But I only took my pain meds for like 3 days because they say that they constipate you & I didn't want that. Also, don't bother taking your own nightgown, you won't feel like using it, or at least I didn't. I wore some pants that were stretchy & wore the same outfit home. Is yours overnight? I had mine on Wed at 9:30 & left the very next morning after I did my barium swollow test. (that yucky milky stuff you have to drink so they can look to make sure your port is where it's supposed to be. Then I pretty much told them I wanted to go home. So I left even before breakfast came. I know that's more then you asked for but, hope this helps.TTYL.

Hi all, I am being banded by Dr. Galvani in Chicago on August 22nd and it can't get here soon enough. I have been on a liquid only pre-op for the past nine days (and I haven't cheated once). Good luck to all of you.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
