Scared please help

Recommended Posts

I am doing the 6 month supervised diet that my insurance requires in order to cover the sleeve and I need help making up my mind. I am 32 years old and take 4 blood pressure meds a day. I have an enlarged heart due to prolonged untreated hbp. I guess im scared I will have a heart attack during the surgery. Anybody else with similar problems had the surgery? what was ur outcome? any and all responses please.

4 blood pressure meds a day. enlarged heart

@@wittti

this is a medical issue that you must discuss with your family doc, and then surgeon

if you are told by docs its ok to proceed with surgery thats great

but i can only imagine that the enlarged heart issue is scary

talk to your doc in length about this very important decision

yay, or nay

if your doc says no, i would listen to him

but if he says its ok, take a long time to think the surgery over

health issues improved/disapper frequently for many :)

no more diabetes, high blood pressure, CPAP for me

having weight loss surgery (sleeve) is the best thing i ever did

lost 105 lbs 1 year PO

for the past 2.5 years i've been at goal

fluctuate at times, but all is well :)

good luck with your decision

kathy

I havent had the surgery yet but I have similar fears I have high blood pressure and recently have been having heart palpitations and pressure in my chest. I did a stress test and they say all was okay but I still have this fear that I'm going to have a heart attack while in surgery. I just trying to have faith because if i continue on this path i will hv one anyway.

I'm 58 and had never been in the hospital. I was terrified of going under anesthesia. I turned it over to God and my surgeon. It is normal to have fears. But the surgery has saved my life. I'm 4 months post and each day is a new me. Praying for you.

I understand your fear. But hears How I look at it. If I were going to have a heart attack, I would rather be in the hospital than not. My doctor did a stress echo before he would sleeve me. Gods speed to you!

If you are on hypertension medication for high blood pressure, chances are they will require a cardiology clearance before they will allow the surgery. This will likely cause you to see a cardiologist and they in turn will probably want you to do a stress test.

I have this very issue, saw a Cardiologist, had a stress test done, results were normal.

It's a process that many of us have had to endure, because by definition most large people have high blood pressure.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
