It was 4 days for me, and it took me having to take Mira lax to work. It was as solid like chalk from barium you take for the upper GI

I had trouble with this for about 10 days. Then I could not get out of the bathroom until I started puréed foods and Protein. Once I started that phase, I ended up constipated for about the first 6 months, now that has resolved.

It was about 10 days and only with the help of Benefiber. I still have to take it every other day, even after adding in some soft veggies.

I had surgery Thursday, I let it go till Tuesday then took Miralax with a little grape juice and it worked in about an hour. I make sure I go at least every other day now or take Miralax. Too many horror stories out there about impacted bowels for me! If you haven't went, get something quick! It's not something to be taken lightly! I would NEVER go longer than 4 or 5 days without taking something.

I was 7 days post op and it was awful, felt like concrete was coming out. Then another 5 days after that and so painful. I was given a prescription for liquid colace (stool softner) but it's sold over the counter in pill form only as far as I could find. Therefore, I didn't purchase any. I talked with the pharmacist and bought Purelax, CVS's version of Miralax which is much cheaper. You can out the powder in your Water or any beverage. It is completely tasteless and let me tell you it works wonderfully. I took it every day for 7 and now every other day. I'm regular every day now, simple and easy. No more pain and no more concrete for me! We have to remember that eating or drinking a high Protein diet, which we'll be doing for the rest of our lives, is a sure fire way to become constipated. I hope this helps.

I'm still pre-op but have found with my GI issues (IBS etc) that Dulcolax works best for my Constipation IMHO. Little itty bitty pills, take 1-3 gradually per day till you get "the troops to move" then back off to good dosage for regular movements.. Easy schmeesy.Good luck!

I work in hospice and my cure all is mix some miralax and Gatorade and go for it! Stool softener is a must if you've been severely constipated! It will keep you making ur butt hole bleed.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
