I left a post yesterday but I am such a worry wart that I'm freaking my self out. I am 4 days out from surgery. I am on Clear Liquids til the 4th. I have no problems drinking and keeping it down but I am having problems with the pain and the amount. I am on a goal of 60/60...60 liquid ounces and 60 Protein. I'm LUCKY to get 26 ounces and 42 protein. It takes me an hour to get 4 ounces down. I am doing g2 with my Protein Drink shot, broth, and sf popsicles. I get an intense pain ( huge gas bubble) in my chest that comes and goes like a contraction. My stomach bubbles ALL the time and today I am really tired. IS ALL OF THIS SOUND NORMAL?

Yup. Totally normal. These things take time. Read all the posts about this, they go on for YEARS!!!! If you are concerned, as always, call your surgical team.

YES! You just had MAJOR surgery 4 days ago.... be patient, you'll start feeling "normal" in just a few days and still.... the normal you'll feel is not our old normal, but regardless, you'll feel better soon enough. MAKE SURE you walk walk walk walk walk walk....it's truly the ONLY thing that helps.... walk as often as you can, especially after drinking or eating anything. Rest up, take it easy and be patient..... in a few weeks this will be a thing of the past! good luck, it does get MUCH better!

When I had my surgery the Dr was clear that the goals were goals and just to do the best you could. Don't worry about hitting those numbers. Walking will help! It does sound like you are doing all the right stuff :-) Hope you start feeling better soon. Keep us posted on how you are doing!

You work up to your goals. Do the best each day and each day strive to do better. Also if you are drinking shakes/soups, etc... my doctor counts those fluids towards my total Fluid amount. Speak with your nutritionist. If you are drinking 42ounces of Protein drinks plus 26 ounces of Water or another Fluid, that's 68 ounces of fluids which is actually pretty good. Work on increasing your Water just a bit and you're there.

As for the gas bubble, that may just be a cue to drink a little slower. We really have to start off drinking at a snails pace.

Overall you are 4 days out. From where I sit, it sounds like you are doing well.

So your getting 42 gms of Protein and 26 ounces of fluids on day 4? Still not bad. Like I said, you work up to it. Try adding another half a or even quarter bottle of gatorade with the Protein in it. Once you can do that, got for half. Keep adding until you hit your goals. I think it took me a week or 2 to hit my goals. I know I was making it by my 2 week f/u but I had to work up to it. Just make sure you are getting your Vitamin and supplements in. They are your lifesaver until you can get nutrients from food.

You will struggle with the amount for a while, but after the swelling goes down, you should be able to get enough Protein and Fluid. Once you can actually get the needed fluids, you need to make sure that you are to avoid dehydration. Until then, just get as much as your can but don't get too concerned unless you start having signs of dehydration. (very yellow urine, swelling/tingling in your extremities, etc.)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
