Big Band or Little Band ?

Recommended Posts

I had no idea that there are different size bands, I was told during my post op appointment that I have the big one that holds 10cc's I am very sore and havent bounced back as quickly as I hoped for and wondered if it may be because my band is bigger ? My Dr said that they now are trying to use the big ones on everyone I didnt know there was a difference and kind of worried that the big ones may cause a more uncomfortable feeling, just wondered if anyone else knew there where different sizes and what size you have ? Thanks for your reply Kim

I doubt that the size of your band is contributing to the way you are feeling.

Some doctors prefer to use the 10cc band. Some wait till they can see what you look like inside, and chose the band based on your anatomy.

The actual size of the band is not all that different from band volume to volume. They are all roughly the same diameter.

The sizes are 9.75 cm - 4cc. the 10cm - 4cc, the VG band - 10cc, the AP band - (I don't know how many cc's)

I hope you feel better soon.

Sam.

This is a good question because I also have the big band and I just now feel as if I can get back to work. I mean it hasnt been bad but I was suppose to go back to work a week after and it wasnt going to happen. I also can feel the band, atleast I think thats what Im feeling with every step. Its like a heavy feeling in my belly, almost like if I was pregnant.

I just found out the other day that there are two types of bands. :) My mom got hers on 5/2/07 and she JUST found out she had the VG band. She just got her first fill 3 days ago and they added only 2 cc. My surgery is scheduled for 6/27 and I have no idea which band I'll get, nor do I care, but I do want the surgery to go well. Mom was feeling famished the last 2 weeks prior to her first fill and she's hoping this will help. The more weight comes off, the more motivating that is! :)

Hi all, I had the 10cm band put in on June 14th and I've been miserable! It feels too tight, it hurts everytime I take a deep breath and I can definitely feel it. Also, the surgery was way more traumatic than I was expecting ..... because it wasn't an open surgery or a gasatric bypass, I was thinking I would just bounce back in a couple of days. And I am definitely restricted ... can only eat a little Soup and then am really full for some time. This part is o.k., but I would really like to breathe without pain. Anyone else have a similar situation? Thanks.

Hi, this is my first post, just joined the site today. But I would say those could be normal symptoms for any abdominal surgery. I had those symptoms when I had my gall bladder out a few years ago. Could hardly breath without pain, could only swallow broth of juice for a few weeks, etc. It could be just how your body personally deals with this type of surgery. But it never hurts to call the doctor's office to talk to someone about your symptoms.

Well, I tell ya guys and gurls, that pain is probably coming from your diaphram, it can hurt for quit some time after WLS. This info I got from my Surgeon. Also if you eat to soon, or to much it can also make you hurt. The gas they use to "blow you up" with can also make you hurt for some time. I was told, walking and a heating pad will help a lot. It has nothing to do with the size of your band.

Hang in there, as time goes by it will all feel better.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
